Hey! to anyone out there who would be able to help.... (including you, Marty, if you could)
I would like to have my highschool orchestra play some stuff from the halo soundtracks (1 &2). I was wondering if anyone knew how I would go about doing this legally. I am adept at, and would not mind making an arrangement of themes from the soundtracks, though any sheet music would be helpful. I am capable of writing my own music that parallels the halo music, but I wanted to know what copyright infringement problems I would run into... how do I go about getting bungie's permission to perform a piece as such, and how much would it cost (even if I weren't to charge for admission to the concert).
Help?

This gets posted all the time. Marty lacks... motivation. My suggestion:

Look up his phone number and call him excessively.

He's encouraging stalking an old man and you call it "nice"?

It was actual advice, instead of criticism, from Obbi. So ya, I would call it nice.

It wasn't intentional. I was merely delighted with the prospect of Marty getting 20-40 phone calls a day asking about Halo sheet music.

Oh, sorry. My mistake. I would hate to think of you as being helpful. ;)

We call him The Elder for a reason. The poor guy probably couldn't get up to answer the phone that many times a day. *grin*

Tell him to chug more MetaMucil.

Y'know, I honestly don't think they'd care about copywrite infringement...I can guarantee enough people have played Halo so they'd recognize the theme. I bet Marty would think it's pretty cool, actually.

Have you actually figured any of it out, though?

I've figured out some of his stuff, mostly the cello part in the main theme, I'm working on the viola and violin part, and I've figured out most of "The Last Spartan," but that doesn't translate very well to piano...

Anyhow, if you pull this off, be sure to get a recording of it and post it somewhere.

Dude, is there any possible way you could send me the Cello part for Last Spartan? Like in an e-mail or something? Please?

Haha, if I can figure out how to transcribe it. See, my whole problem is that I don't really read sheet music. I know what the notes are and what key it's in (F minor, I think...it's the one with the B Flat), but when I try and put it on sheet music, I fail miserably at timing. Musically, I operate mostly by ear, natural sense of timing, and instinct.

So, if you'd like me to tell you what the notes are and leave the timing to you, I will. Just send me a PM to remind me, 'cause I'm about to go to bed.

Wouldn't it just make the world a better place if he did print it for everyone. Yet if he doesn't, he has that authority of coolness not to. And I respect that.
