When you selected the link from the forum index to direct you to this thread, what was your intention? Did you choose to view this topic because you were interested in the content of the post or did you choose to view this topic because you wanted to view the Pinned Topics and Top Forum Topics to the right of this post?

I think the update has its ups and downs, but overall Bungie.net could be designed any way possible and this would still be my favorite website. However, I wanted to simply gather feedback from the community by throwing out this question. All you have to do is answer it and feel free to share any other opinions, suggestions, or comments regarding this subject.

In my opinion, I think it would be better to remove these topics from the right while you are viewing a thread because it takes up a good portion of the page and forces the development team to display a different layout. I don't understand why a user on the site would open a thread if their intention was to view the stickies, which are already displayed in the forum index.

My suggestion would be to have the three buttons, which are Create New Topic, Save Thread, and Back To Forum Index, be displayed on one bar across the top... just under the forum picture. Then under that bar would be the topic, in which you would be able to use the previous layout or one similar now having the whole page width.

Please understand that this is just something that I feel would be more beneficial and appealing to the community after reading a few hours worth of feedback. I do not expect anything to change, and neither do I request it to be changed, but if you don't mind, please post your thoughts below. Thank you for your cooperation.

I agree but at the same time, maybe more people will actually read the stickies if they are always visible. I think that was the main goal of putting them there. People complained that nobody read the stickies, so they made them more prominent. It is kind of annoying to me though since I have been around a while and read them all already. Time will tell how well it works. I wouldn't be surprised if some things were changed around in the near future. I just take it in stride.

I had the same thoughts, Cryptic. I think that if they can't be hidden while you're viewing a thread, then can they at least be collapsible? Or would that be too hard for the site? I just think that they take up too much room, making pages unnecessarily long.

I do like the idea of putting the three buttons ("New Topic", etc) underneath the forum picture.

I think that they should be visible (for many reasons) while typing a post (thread, reply, edit, etc). That seems evident. And it's obvious that they should be visible on the main thread listing page. I don't really see the purpose of having the stickies on the actual thread view page, though. But I could just be overlooking something.

If there was an option to collapse it then the whole point of the pinned topics and hot topics would be pointless. Hiding it while viewing a thread and then putting it back while in the forum would take alot of time to load up the page. Especially when people are moving though the forums like a tornado. I like your idea CG, but maybe one of the reasons why it's like that is to keep the layout the same all through the forums. =D

Or they could do something like this.

I made a post about it in the pinned topic, "Forum changes" if you want to give me any feedback pertaining to my idea then post there.

Sorry if this is classed as cross-posting, my intentions are good.
