Codeword is ... "codeword". Doh!
Also, now, Alliance FTW!

There are a few placed that a link to a member's saved threads could be placed.

A button in between the "new topic" and "return to main listing" on the forum page that displays all of the forums thread titles. (since the in-thread display has 3 buttons, one that is for "save the thread", the level above.. the topic listing, only has 2 buttons... not good for an OCD sufferer)

Since a member cannot message themself, perhaps a button in their post header to the left of "groups".

In the member profile card, shorten "new messages" to "messages" or "PMs" and insert a "Threads" or "Topics" link.

Add it to the "My Stats" pulldown.

And or your suggestion as well.

Thanks, Recon...great suggestions - make it a site wide improvement, much better way to approach it.

It took me a while to read this and understand. Mainly because I sometimes suck at reading great literature. But I get exactly what you are saying man. And I do agree.

But then it just hit me like a smack in the face from only god himself. what if the "Friends online (14)" button and the "new messages (0)" would have some kind of feed or something to were you wouldn't have to refresh all the time in order to see the numbers of users/messages change.

I think I've seen sites like deviant art do something like that before. but I don't think it would have to be flashed based. I don't know,
it was just a though. but it might work. If not on B.net. Then I pray they will have something like that on Xbox.com in the near future.

EDIT: has anyone also noticed how it says. "1 replies"?

(this was originally pointed out by Coffey, so all credits go to him)

I have alwais used the saved thread feature to, as you said, keep track of topics of importance to me. I assumed that the Top Forum Topics were the topics that the most people replied to or that had been there for the longest time. With the knowlege that they are deturmined by how many people make them saved threads, I'll have to rethink the way I interact with forums.

I have a question - are the top topics in any order, or are they randomized?

BTW, nice find Recon. And props to the web team for doing this. :)

How often have you found yourself looking at a stationary page on Bungie.net waiting for a message?

I don't think the effort is really worth it.

I didn't connect the dots, but yeah!

Bets on how long it'll take the poster of the top thread in the Halo 3 forum to ask for Recon armour?

-TGP-

Maybe if someone asks for Recon Armor, you can do what worked in Halo 2, the banhammer.

I never quite looked at it that way but you are right. I've used the saved topics thing a bit since I have to get to bed early, sometimes I'll save a thread and check the next day or the next time I get a chance to sign on to see what happened.

So I think Jun's a master chef, because he takes off his helmet and your like whoa, I think he's a chef.

So to shorten this up, Jun is master chef.

I do the exact same thing.

Threads that I am keeping "personally stickied" for a reason (because I want to keep an eye on them and/or do my part to keep them in the top forums listing), they stay until I don't want to give them that benefit anymore.

You mean like if there is a thread at risk of being locked or having someone getting banned in it?

Recon, I've noticed that when someone replies to a "Top Forum Topic," the thread automatically moves to the very top. I'm thinking it doesn't really matter if the thread is saved or not, but if it the thread has a high post count and is recent (there's probably more to it I'm sure).

Stop sending me group invites -blam!-s!

Personally I go to my post history to catch up on a topic I posted in the day before. I rarely save topics.

Interesting! I just assumed at first that the "Top Forum Topics" just had a lot of posts in them.

Codeword is ... "codeword". Doh!
Also, now, Alliance FTW!

The movement of items off the Top Forum Topics list seems to be very slow - in The Flood there have been two or three locked topics in that list for days. One of them locked because of the subject matter, about religion (AKA "The Beginning of Everything"), so in a perfect world it would never be visible again. I assume it's because a ton of people put it on their Save Thread list? Or because it has many pages and many posts?

Should mods intervene and be able to mark The Beginning of Everything as "Off" the Top Forum Topics list forever, since it wsa locked because the basic subject matter violated forum rules? Should they be able to mark any locked thread like that?

Strange evolution how people have come to believe
That we are it's greatest achievement
We're barely, we're just a collection of cells
Overrating themselves

Achronos is sneaky like that.

Tells us we'll never get something and then gives it to us without telling us.

I suspect its going to 50 lashes for Recon for spilling the beans.

Forum Rules for those who care to know what they are.

"Bs: Blame stosh for all of your BS!"

This seriously pisses me off too. I was, for a while, fighting a forum war by telling all of the people that were in Bungie General Forum that you don't post Halo3 stuff there, but in the Halo3 Forum. It was a serious waste of time and it was all because people don't read the stickies. People think stickies as rules and that general crap so they are going to avoid them and not read them, when actually the stickies have a lot of very cool stuff. STICKIES FTW! I use the pin button a lot in my groups, so i have come to appreciate the sticky. :)

Of course you don't. Because you though that i think that you thought that I think it is really worth it so you though that I thought that you think it is'nt. If not on the message list (which I don't really care about) then please on the (friends online thingy) that would be sick.

P.S this weekly update was very....VERY! satisfying :)

I almost never use the "save thread" button, or look at my list of saved threads. I just don't feel I need to, and my saved thread page always feels unorganized to me. Maybe I should start trying now though.

Also, any notice the irony that this is the #1 Top Forum Topic?
