I'll be on my own side.

Xbox Live's GT filter is pretty retarded. Yoozel can attest to that...

it's obvious bungie is turning a blind eye to this and choosing to ignore, rather than behave like the leader in gaming industry they're supposed to be and resolve it. For christ's sakes, YOU"RE OWNED BY THE COMPANY THAT MAKES THE RULES. That gives you a pretty easy in to get things taken care of, "hey big brother, your screening system didnt work and now we've gotta fix it." Halo 3's launched and the first map packs out, maybe it's time to start listening to your players and stop seeing how you can amaze yourselves next.

So, bungie has started changing my name in all the post game info to "pardon our dust" which i first thought was just something they assigned because it was a temporary blank just to act as a "place holder." I was wrong, someone actually has that name and is now getting friend requests and so on. This mess just went from dumb to nonfunctionally retarded.

I think it's pretty funny how all of a sudden there's a big ban on the word "Jew" in people's names.

What I find ridiculous is how I'm probably going to have to change my gamertag along with all of these others, but if you could hear the ridiculous things that people say to me before, during, and after games (which I am sure the rest of you guys have heard as well) about my tag, then you could see some grave injustice going on here.

Seriously, I could swear that 90% of Xbox Live members are Neo--blam!-s or something.

Edit: Oh... apparently you can't use that word. Well, I think everyone knows what I mean.

And yes, my tag used to be "The Deadly AIDS."

My gamertag is OrAnGe JEWse. I am Jewish and I am very open about it. If it offends anyone, I'm sorry, but it is my religion, so I should have the freedom to express it.

  • 02.21.2008 1:09 PM PDT

.ya, same. If the filter even finds jewel offensive, than that's taking it too far. My gamertag (orange jewse) is just a joke. I'm jewish, very open about it, and have the right to express it (this is America, is it not!). Yet, on Call of Duty 4, I met people with names like mine, such as apple jewze and lemon jewse. They said they weren't jewish. Now that's actually offensive. They have no right to make their names be that! However, we have a right to see our stats online!

Are any Bungie employees actually reading this thread?
Anyone?

I have gotten no indication they are acting on this at all. It may be time for us all to start continually emailing the website support email address until they take action.

I'm a serious dude, so what?

Posted by: liljewfroboy
i'm one of the people thats blocked, but i really dont find my name offensive. a lot of ppl call me liljewfroboy in school. is it just because i have the word jew in my name? i can see that a lot of people will use it negatively, but shouldn't someone be able to unblock the names that actually arent offensive at all? i mean, i am jewish, i would just be insulting myself anyways. if i never get to see my stats because of this, i want some sort of free name change...

this is a big problem guys. when i read this i think i heard lawyers awaken from their vampire-like slumber. it is clearly microsoft's fault though.

The suit was already filed against them for the "high definition" halo 3 rendering in 720p. Well i dont know about you all, but i payed 50 bucks for a year of online play and all that's included, and then i payed over $120 for a halo pack with some dinky undersized helmet and crap load of bonus footage that's still shrink wrapped. Bungie is failing to render a service for which they have been payed in full and that's the pure and simple of it. They want to play like they don't know what the issue is, as if they're not the ones who created it, some mods are trying to claim that it's an issue with the microsoft filter. That must be why my COD4, and forza accounts are workin peachy, and why all of my stats magically end up over with "pardon our dust" i'm almost to the point of sending a request for refund for xbl services left unrendered, if they won't respond while they have our money, maybe they will when we start asking for it back.

No one here is paying for the B.net service so unless you have problems on xbl you got nothing to complain about. I have to say that with a name like yours I wouldnt question a thing..

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

My apologies if I am rude here, but I must make a few things straight. You payed $120 dollars on your own, that is not because Bungie told you to. You could have bought the standard version, but no, you chose to spend the extra amount. You cannot blame them for what you did. They didn't put a gun to your head and tell you to buy it. They had absolutely nothing to do with you buying that. When you bought the Legendary Edition you knew exactly what came with it, and how big the helmet was. If you didn't, that is your fault, all of the specs and contents were posted here on this site. Don't blame them for your 'mistakes'.

Second of all, you won't get your money back, period. When you signed up for Xbox Live you agree to the Terms of Use as well as the Code of Conduct. Both clearly state that you will not receive any sort of reimbursement if you are not satisfied. It doesn't matter what you say or what you do, you will not get your money back because you accepted the Terms of Use as well as the Code of Conduct. Which you should have read, and if you didn't, once again, that is your problem, not theirs.

In short, you can't do anything about any of this. You have done, blamed, and told of things that you will do; on things that were solely by your choice. Nobody else's. Suck it up, and change your name. Speaking of which, your name is obviously offensive; I even take offense to it and I'm not of that back ground.

As for the others, I can see where they are coming from. Innocents in the cross fire if you will. You on the other hand, seem to rant for the sake of ranting.

Calling Terry Wrist and Al Kyder.

My friend (rightly) had a request to change his gamertag from Microsoft. the wierd part was that he managed to get away with changing the non-offensive part of the gamertag (the to th3). He hasn't found any problems with this new one despite it being virtually identical to his old one.

When i reserved the legendary, it was cheaper and included more, bungie welched on their end and then charged more for it.

There's also a difference between "satisfaction" and lack of service, learn to read or dont' respond tard.

As to the offensiveness of my GT, get over it. Maybe i'm offended by the use of colors in others names due to my (nonexistent)colorblindness, guess that means they should have to change their's too.

did you guys know that you can't save a film clip with the word "G O D" in it? I had one that said "Thank God" for something, and I wasn't able to save it until I deleted that. Bungie must be secular, but whatever. I don't get my character from a video game.

i wouldnt say any of it "makes sense." for a community and company who's self proclaimed goal is world domination, there off to a pretty shoddy start.

Step 1. Get your game into the house of every male between the ages of 12 and 35
Step 2. Remove all potentially offensive religious mentioning... WHAT?!
Step 3. Release an update that caters to people with laggy connections and slow reaction time.

Time to go back to the drawing board.

-That is why there is such a thing as canceling a reserved order. Besides, it wasn't Bungie's decision anyway, it was Microsofts decision for the most part, and I think that is rather obvious.

-No need for the personal attack. I am simply sparking a debate, as well as explaining the flaws in your complaints and how they don't hold up. Satisfaction and the lack of service are both one and the same, when they are broken down; the consumers opinion.

-Now this is just flat out ridiculous, it is an automated filter in which your gamertag obviously falls under. It doesn't matter whether people are offended by your gamertag or not, the point is that the filter from Xbox detects it, and thus blocks your stats on Bungie.Net from views; which is basically how the system works. Take Pure Jewel for example, he's innocent, but the system has a portion of his name on 'the list'.
