I dont understand, my ping sucks so badly on Halo 1 and UT3 online games. I went into a server I normally played on on my old PC, I got like 33-67 ping there. Well on my new PC, I get between 100+ to 233 or 266... why? Is it my internet connection? Someone help me out please.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

Move closer to your router.

Or get a better network card.

Make sure your wireless card is compatiable (able to recieve the signals) with your router. Theres different signal variants, it should say on your router what signals it can send/ recieve. check those with your wireless card. I bought a card for my new computer, and it kept on lagging like crazy, and sometimes the connection would just fail. turns out the new card had a different signal then my router.

If it was using a different frequency it just wouldnt connect. It wouldnt even see it at all.

Then I'm lost as to what caused my previous wireless to be a failure as it was. :(

Pardon my noobness, but where do I go to check the signals on my wireless card?

Update: Its also my internet connection, downloading patches for games and such takes TONS longer than it does on my old PC. I really would like to resolve this problem :(

Well, on wireless, if I use linkys controller, I get lots of bugs. I let windows manage things.

And to check your wireless card signal, fastest way, lower right corner, right click your wireless link icon, and click status.

My card and router are Linksys I believe... yeah, Wireless-G Broadband Router 1X RangeMark and 1X SpeedMark.

And to check my signal, the icon isnt there... ?? it always was. I remember seeing it... its not there anymore.

And on any game I play online on, it lags like hell. I hate it.

If you need to check your signal levels go into the network connections in the control panel. You will find the wireless adapter there and right click and hit status.

But realistically speaking if you want to game on wireless plan on being in the same room or fairly close to the router/access point.

Um... thats no problem, but as of right now... my old PC is 4 feet away from my new one..... So thats clearly not the problem...

My signal is at 5 bars or Excellent... then whats the problem? This is really mind-grinding.

You probably need a new network card, or you can save your money and use a cable... ( I forgot whether you can or can't, but with mine I can.).

Move it 4 feet then. Wireless signals behave in strange ways when passing through all the random stuff that makes up a house.

Also the windows 1-5 bars, poor-excellent scale thing can be very unreliable.

Unless he has a block of lead inbetween the area his new comp is in and the area where his old comp was I doubt it's the fact that he is using wireless.

Try using different drivers.

A couple friends think that it might be that I need a bigger router? Because since I was only getting 1 PC in the same room I didnt need a big router.
