The trust system has remained a bit of a mystery (as I'm sure it will stay one for good reasons) to many if not all of us normal users. One thing I would like to know is how trust is administered. Is it purely automated or do the ninjas and such have a "good boy" button that gives out trust? Or a mixture of the two, or maybe something entirely different?

Explain the context of this said "trust". You make it sound like "trust" is a variable of some sort here.

EDIT: Just so you know, that was supposed to be a (bad) pun, thar >_>

Syringes were involved.

When I die please bury me deep!
Place an MA5 down by my feet!
Don't cry for me, don't shed no tear!
Just pack my box with PT gear!
'Cuz one early morning 'bout zero-five!
The ground will rumble, there'll be lightning in the sky!
Don't you worry, don't come undone!
It's just my ghost on a PT run!

Good question man....wish i could answer that.

You are right about the suck ups, but something tells me the ninjas would't be that coy.

Trust is (as we have been told) the thing that determine's your member rting here. You gain it for " being good" and lose it for being stupid. Its easy to lose and hard to earn.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

It is an entirely automated system. Ninjas affect it by blacklisting and warning members, but they have no direct control over it..

I think the forces behind the member titles should remain completely anonymous.

Imagine the guy in Wizard of Oz. Sitting behind a curtain, pulling the strings. Remember when he revealed himself? Chaos. People died. Now imagine the same thing if we figure out the system that administered trust. And then multiply that by sixteen.

Also, there's a thread for member titles.

(Hey, while I still had the URL on my clipboard, why not use it again?) ;)

PLEASE PROOFREAD ALL POSTS! Dictionary.com

The ninjas are a very reclusive fraternity, they work in mysterious ways. I suppose they reward users based on genuine merit, rather than people who kiss up to them. Nobody has ever been rewarded for doing just what they are expected to do, only for going above and beyond the expectation.

Taxes do nothing to affect the share of wealth, since taxes are only applied to income.

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

"for a "best" moral to exist, there must exist the "best" moral base. If the base of morality varies from location to location, culture to culture...then there can't be an absolute moral..

in most cases that i have looked into it appears to be automated and merely the result of having an account open for a long time and not being banned. i have seen a few accounts with fewer than 20 posts over the life of the account, and they have had titles added.

that is just a guess. but, that so many accounts have these titles based on such criteria, most of the titles that we see are by no means indicative of the quality of the posts made by a user.

Heck, with all my bribes, I should be Mythic by now. Clearly that's not how it works.

Trust from Bungie.

1. Follow The Code of Conduct.
2. Time in Bungie.net
3. Behavior in Halo 3.
4. Behavior in Bungie.net.
5. Active in Bungie.net
6. No inappropriate contents.
7. Follow all rules.

Bungie's trust will not be easily gained just because of time on Bungie.net but also with behavior on Bungie.net and Halo 3 and how well you follow the rules starting by following the Code of Conduct.

Hello.

Yes, but the question is wheter it is automated or it is handed out personaly. Its pretty obvious that you must be good on Bungie.net.

If you read Duardo's FAQ on roles, he will state that the community is not entirely sure on how roles and trust are distributed.

Bungie decides whether or not they trust you manually it depends on how good you are and how helpful you are in the communities it all depends on how you decide to be in the community. Think about it this way CG (Cryptic Guardian), Foman, and Duard0 have gained Bungie's and the communities trust because they helped them and it had nothing to do with their ranks or if they knew forum ninjas.

Hello.

Well, I tend to doubt that. I haven't seen Bungie state that.

To tell you the truth, I think it depends on blacklistings/warnings and membership creation. I have a friend who is a Mythic Member. He has been here since '04, but rarely post (which means he probably was never blacklisted.)

Duardo has been here since '04, and probably has never been blacklisted.

Being helpful probably only means you have never been banned, so that could relate to that.

I really do doubt that the overall system is manual. Can you imagine how much effort it would take to manually assign trust to all of the members? A very long time. I believe that the system is mainly based on join date, activity (how often one signs in), appropriate behavior and possibly post count.

Well it really depends. I mean let's say their is a member that did wrong in the past but now is recognized for his heplful and constructive posts. Then maybe you could watch that member for a while and see if he deserves a "trust-up"

Finally, someone who gets what I meant. From a Mythic, too.

It would take too much work, and that was what I was trying to say.
