Call me Wolfie | My anti-drug
New Flood for life <3

We’re looking back laughing because they called us crazy, but we took that chance on that feeling, living for the moment, we were spinning in. Maybe we were a lot of things, but we weren't crazy.

With all the new changes made to Bungie's site, I was wondering if there could be some sort of option to change your Bungie username.

In this one forum I visit, the system allows you two name changes before you're not allowed to touch it anymore.

Some people might want new names, but wouldn't want to leave their old one behind (i.e. a 2004 account) in order to make another one with a better name.

Suggestions?

There was a man from Allentown who fed his son to death.
He calmly watched him gorge himself until his final breath.
And there he stood, surprised and shocked above his tiny frame.
He said: "I bear no blame for this. I only share his name!"

Great idea. I don't see why not. : )

That would be an awesome addition to the new site.

This would be nice. The only problem is people could keep changing names everytime they get introuble. But there are easy fixes.
A) Allow only 1 name change in a year period.
B) Charge money to change name like xbox live does.
C) What you said.

No, it's the same account, changing your name wouldn't make a difference. And like I/you said, limiting the amount of times you can change your name would be a good idea too.

No need to charge money, that would make a lot of users unhappy to see Bungie doing something like that.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

I will only be for this till an account is more attached to ones identity. That way, no more 'Oh, I'm banned, I'll just change my name and once it's over I'll act like nothing happened', although, they would only be fooling themselves and the other members who cannot see such data. So, I would be for this, but only when an account is more attached with someones identity. And in my opinion; only one name change should be fine. One name change, then that's it. No moar.

as for ppl tryin to get outta trouble, or dodge a bad rep, then there could be like a list on their profile of all previous usernames.

Yeah, one name change is good.

I HATE my name with a fiery passion, but I refuse to make an new account because this one is from 2006. The name I want hasn't been taken yet either >.<

Why do people keep thinking that you can get out of trouble like this? The only thing that changes is your username, nothing else. Any bans will remain, and all your groups. Your avatar, background, and profile info will remain the same too.

I think it's a good idea Halo2Girl305.

I'd agree with this, but given the sheer volume of people on B.net - not counting the people who didn't want to change there name it seems like a lot of work and a lot of strain on the servers. I would like it, but it's probably impractical.

No matter how many name changes people are allowed people will ask for more. I say leave it as it is, it is so much easier that way otherwise we'll get threads

"I changed my username a while back but it screwed up and I used my last name change, please Achronos can I have one more name change? *Puppy Dog Eyes*"

I say we leave it as it is rather than complicating something which is very simple. Want a new name, get a new account. If your gamertag is linked to your old account change your Windows Live ID to that of your new Bnet account in the 360 dashboard.

Change Bungie.net name to Xbox Live Gamertag: [X]That's how I would like it...
Since there are so many members on Bungie.net, there are simple practicality issues at work.

For example, my gamertag is not "Stan Marsh". My Bungie.net account was created about 18 months before I even had an Xbox, let alone an Xbox Live account. Should whomever has that gamertag create a Bungie.net account, would I have to change my account name, even though I've had it now for over 3 years? Resolving such issues would probably be far more work than it's worth.

Instead, perhaps Bungie could grant us the simple option of displaying either our Bungie.net account names or our gamertags. Forum posts could include a little Bungie or Xbox Live logo next to them to signify which you were seeing. I hope that this would be far easier to program than granting people the option of changing their Bungie.net account names.

Bungie aren't your personal friends.. they're just like ANY OTHER COMPANY looking for a fast buck.. why can't people see that.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Even though your history will still follow you I am still against this idea. Even with the limiting of how many times you can change it we would still have people running around wanting to change their names. If I remember correctly when people make their accounts they are told that it is permanent and that they should choose their account name with care.

With name changes you will have a person change their name and then somebody will come along and take their old name and start posting and acting like an ass just to drag it through the mud. Even if their is a waiting time for it just like a GT change. Once that starts to happen we will get threads with people snapping at the person who is now making their old identity garbage. I can see Pillage or Logical just loving this idea.

You should be proud of the identity you have worked through the years to build up. Even if you have it misspelled (looks at Nos and Maimum Fear) people will know you by that login. Heck I even associate certain avatars with certain members because they have had them for so long and they are well known to me. So before you want to change your name just remember what it is that you would leave behind.

I understand what you're saying, Achillies. I still think only allowing your name to change once wouldn't be much of a problem, but the idea of people changing their names to an old members name might be an issue I suppose.

And yes, I see what you mean by people recognizing you. However, I remember people by their avatars to be honest XD. I just really dislike my name and would the option to get rid of it without getting rid of my membership status. I didn't want the word girl in my name at all, for some reason I thought your name had to be your email.

My YouTube Channel. Just getting into the Machinima business.

I was all for this a little while ago, because I had no clue this username would be the thing thats displayed when I made it. Now I'm a bit attatched to my username, as there really isn't anything else like it.

Maybe you could do something more than just limiting how often they can do it? Such as make a certain criteria that the member has to meet before he/she can change his/her username. Be a member for a certain ammount of time, not get in any big trouble with the mods, put a huge gap of time between name changes, I don't know. Anything you can think of so that this function would not be abused.

I really think that this is a good idea. Maybe put some thought in to it and try it out. If it doesn't work out, remove the option. It might be a pain in the ass if it doesn't work as planned, but I think it's a good idea that should be tried out at least.

Agreed. I'm sure there are ways to make it so it's not abused. I like the idea of having gaps between name changes, but I also think have a limited about is good too.

It's worth mentioning that my idea (allow folks to choose between their Bnet name or their gamertag) isn't really applicable to any issue you've brought up here. You'd keep the same identity, but a different name would appear instead.

I also would prefer that people know me by my gamertag than my Bungie.net account name. I represent myself as Grumpy Jedi a lot more than as Stan Marsh.
