"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

I wouldn't like people changing their names. Names=identity. If someone changed their name, I wouldn't know who they are, even if they said they are formerly someone else.

I personally think that giving everybody the ability to change their user name would cause WAY too much confusion.

I only have one account. Who the hell is x Lord Revan x?

I would have to agree with both Achilles and SgtSTFU here. I would love to have the chance to change my name but it just be too complicated.

Well Enough Alone...

~"The people who play Bungie games tend to sense that there's something behind the games that's attractive to them. Then they become fans of the games. And then they become rabid fans. And then they become employees of Bungie."(Life story) -Marty

I would really want a name chang. The problem is that I would have to simeltaniously change the name of my alternate account, Vick jr, which is the name I want. I could switch the gamertags they are linked to and use the Vick Jr account, but I've used this account a lot on Bungie.net and done a lot more with it. People know me by it.

You're the one that picked the name that you chose in the first place. If you knew that you wouldn' have liked it, then you should have made a name that you could like and keep forever. =D

Yeah, one name change is good.

I HATE my name with a fiery passion, but I refuse to make an new account because this one is from 2006. The name I want hasn't been taken yet either >.<

Join dates aren't important. If you want a new name bad enough, you should be willing to create a new account. Hell, just look at my sig. :P

Change Bungie.net name to Xbox Live Gamertag: [X]That's how I would like it...

Instead, perhaps Bungie could grant us the simple option of displaying either our Bungie.net account names or our gamertags.

That was what I meant... (My idea)

No, it's the same account, changing your name wouldn't make a difference. And like I/you said, limiting the amount of times you can change your name would be a good idea too.

No need to charge money, that would make a lot of users unhappy to see Bungie doing something like that.

If I could use Microsoft Points then that would be great.

What I didn't like was that when I made a new account, no one knew who I was and no one knew that I was a veteran of B.net.

If it bothers you that much, put your original name in your sig. I have my old accounts in my sig (that was to clear up the fact that I knew a lot about Bungie.net, but looked relatively new). I didn't want people to think I was a bad alt or dodging any bans. I should probably change it, now.

This is probably my 4th b.net account, I've been on here since early '05. Besides, no one really knows me, so being able to change my name wouldn't confuse anyone. I'll probably just make a new account because I'm tired of my name. The only reason I named myself "kingrazor001" is because I knew it wouldn't be taken, all my favorite names are always taken in any online community. When I made this new account a year or so ago I didn't think I'd ever get on Xbox Live again or ever come up with a better name, but I did, so I want the name changed, but it looks like I'm just gonna have to make a new account.

As to the problems mentioned with this system, I have never seen any of those problems on a site that allowed name change. I also haven't experienced any difficulty reaffirming my identity after creating a new account with a different name. I used to post in forums on this site on a daily basis and I created a new account everytime I wanted a different name, no one had any trouble recognizing me.

Proof there is a God.
My RT account page.
My Grifball user page.
So if you really want to get to know me, you're welcome to add me anywhere.

On several of the other forums, it's relatively easy to recognize people on new accounts.

One of the major reasons is the fact that those overly-large, forced-down-your-throat flashing banners are displayed under everyone's post.

And then they have custom titles and avatars.

As well as several hundred thousand less people. (I know, shocker. I suppose most games don't sell like Halo...)

Because of this, building an identity somewhere where everything is custom is a cakewalk. Compared to at BNET, which is quite nearly impossible.

I would recommend you just stick with Kingrazor, even if you feel like no one knows you. I'm sure people recognize you, and I guarantee the mods know who you are.

Even IF you haven't build that much of a reputation, after a long time here, it HAS to be SOMETHING, so why throw away that something, however small it may be?

Well, I made the new account anyway and I'm happy with it. :D

Like I said, that was the 4th or 5th account I had made and I hardly ever posted on it.
