The End

‘The conscious is cancerous if allowed to linger’

"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."

I just hit a thougt when browsing the Optimatch forum. What if one day Bungie.net became Gamertags only and due to this change bans on Bungie.net affected you on Halo 3? Say you get banned for 7 days on bungie.net you are banned for 3 days on XBL matchmaking for Halo 3. Obviously it would be too far to perma-ban people from XBL (or would it?) but I thought this would kill spam almost entirely.

What do you think? Perhaps people would finally not be anonymous on the internet and would have to take responsibility for their actions.

I don't have a problem with B.NET being gamertag accounts only, but saying that your forum conduct should or could result in you getting banned from XBL is going to far.
There is no reason why someone who broke a rule here should be banned on XBL. This isn't XBL, it is a forum where heated debates spark people to say some things they shouldn't. Now we all know there are jerks out there, but still, unless they are cheating on XBL there is no reason to ban then there.

I like to Rollick

Bungie.net cannot be gamertags only because they have made other games that do not require gamertags, and it would be unfair to bar those people from discussion.

However, I think that in the optimatch forum if your actions and behavior warrant a permanent ban then you should lose your matchmaking privileges. I think temporarily losing matchmaking privileges is a waste of effort and not necessary.

Basically if you can't behave yourself sufficiently in the matchmaking forum, you should not have the privilege of playing in matchmaking.

No way.

Not everyone is going to have or care to have XBOX Live. They may purchase games developed by Bungie, but just because they don't invest time or money into XBOX Live doesn't mean they should be restricted from the forums.
