This will sound far fetched, but bare with me. In 343 Guilty Spark, the level, the trees glow green in certain spots. If you kill the warrior form of a flood, and he lands in a dark spot, you will notice that he is glowing green in certain spots also, particularly the torso. If you ever read the description of the flood, it says that this is the incubation area, so does that mean that the trees are incubating vegetarian flood? I might be reading to much into it, but its still a cool thought, what do you think?

I thought so too. Also, they are different from the trees in every other level.

The first few times I played that level I thought that those trees made the Flood.

I think they are infected trees that serve one purpose only.

You know how 343 GS says the Flood will alter the atmosphere later on in Level 7? Well, since trees already maintain the balance in the atmosphere maybe that is what they are using them for, to change the atmosphere chemically and pump it full of spores.
