You are all loved beyond measure.
I, like you, am a light-sound-vibration complex that resonates with others. I have hopes and dreams and ambitions, just like you! I AM, and so are you! Yes, we are one and the same, you and I.

Does anyone else think it would be a good idea to add an about me feature, where we could enter hobbies, interests, a bio, etc.? Currently, the only options we have for that are limited signatures, awkward off-site linking, and unpersonalized posts in massive threads. The only bits of personal info we can give currently are such things as location and games played, and that's really boring and trite info for the community to be looking at, I think. Almost every other forum does this and it usually adds a lot to the atmosphere when you can look at a poster's profile and see a bit about him without resorting to reading the post history and feeling like a stalker.

There really isn't much potential for abuse, at least not that I can think of. People apt to put inappropriate material will likely be the same sort of rapscallions who post such stuff on the public forums. It would be an additional responsibility, though, for the mods to monitor those.

(Sorry if this is a repeat topic.)

I think someone mentioned it the other day... I would personally love to see more information slows in the profiles. But meh. We'll see if we ever get that.

You're forgetting that this is a video game website. Not Myspace. =D

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

Sounds like a fine idea to me. Could never hurt to provide just a little bit of information about who you really are.

Also... people, seriously. "About me" pages existed LONG before myspace was even considered. Telling people what books you like to read doesn't mean all of a sudden we're blogging about our how our girlfriends broke up with us and our parents hate us. This myspace phobia is getting absurd.

I believe that he is pointing out that the more information that we make public, the easier our related accounts (such as a WLID or XBL account) would be to hijack through pretexting.

The problem is that some of usl want to be open and noticed for who we are, but we also anticipate privacy. Striking a balance is not always easy.

I still don't think a bio would contribute to that. Honestly.

If someone wants to find out more about someone, a lot of the people here have MySpace accounts, blogs, and other various things. If someone wants to "jack" your account, it'd be extremely difficult. It's not like it happens all the time. Nobody should blow anything out of proportion.
