99.99% of us here (is that too low a number) have seen every screenshot and every video- 8minutes or 20seconds.... and are we not most impressed with what we've seen?! i just wanted to say that as impressive as everything has been, i think the new multiplayer maps look fantastic! i mean, when we all got a look at zanzibar in the multiplayer demo at e3 we all thought it looked pretty cool- but we were looking at it from mostly one direction, spinning wheel and all. however, in some of those 3+second short multiplayer vids, and the 20second video, we got more of a look 'inside' zanzibar- and it does look 'big'. i think we are so used to the mp maps in halo that we don't really realize how big and well thought-out these new maps are going to be. i think we've only had a taste of the eye-candy they hold in store for us, too. halo2 will rock!

Hopefully they exhibit a more uniform standard of excellency than the Halo multi-player maps did. On Halo there were some really good maps that saw a lot of play, and then some maps that weren't as good that didn't see a lot of action.

I like almost all the maps on Halo. The one that I'm not too keen about is Wizard, because its small and pretty simplistic. Derelict is basically a bigger, better version of it, so I'd rather play that. Rat Race is also pretty basic, but you can have some good action on it. Other than that all the Halo maps were sweet. For the longest time everyone in my group hated Chrion and Boarding Action, but after playing them a few times they've become two of our favorites. True, some maps are rarely played, but thats because people don't give them a chance and can't see the beauty of their design.

i still hate chiron, it's just irritating to me- sorry, drifting from my original post. i think these new maps are not just going to be awesome for their size and design, but also because of the care and detail. i mean, at the end of the e3 demo this year, when we had a lil' tour of zanzibar, i wasn't watching the weapons lying around as much as the stone walls and ground- the detail looks really good. knowing much of these environs are destructible just adds to my anticipation! by the way, when i'm playing some 1vs1 with a friend, we'll choose a co-op map on easy, kill all the covies, then play against each other on that map (we have to make some house rules on re-spawning, though)- it's just a little something else while waiting for the big h2!

They are much more interactive. The only thing Halo had was the transporter green door thingy. ntm, making it one way was cool. But these maps are totally reactive, special doors, sub objectives, different way to do something.

AND, making CTF round based is THE most brilliant idea ever. Now everybody attacks or everybody defends. WAyyyyyyyy more fun.

thank you for your input everyone! thermalzeal, what do you mean by 'sub objectives'? are you referring to the energy sword and/or gate controls? i can't wait to use the new energy 'elevator' mentioned in the may '04 game informer pp.48 (Lockout map). and.... having ctf round based as another game option is, agreed, an awesome idea! i hope we can adjust the round times, though.
