So.. my buddy and I were playing multiplayer and I wondered if it was possible to board an enemy banshee by dropping down to it from your own banshee. After a lot of trying and unreasonable ammounts of cooperation, we concluded it is possible, though typically you'll just bounce off the banshee before being able to board it.
So then I went home and it was still bugging me, 'cause it seemed like it should be possible. Then I found a pretty simple way to do it.
I figured this out on the Arbiter level against the computer, on the Legendary difficulty.
1) change your thumbstick layout to "southpaw" this way you can change where your reticule is pointing while having your thumb on the X button, which is necessary when boarding.
2) approach an enemy Banshee, from underneath is easiest but it is also possible from the side or even head on or while passing each other.
3) approach a target banshee. The best way to approach the comp. is from beneath. Boost so that you are beneath and a little ahead of your target. If you approach from above, the computer will freak out and barrel roll or boost away from you, so approach from beneath.
4) Press X to get out of your banshee mid-air, then immediatly press X again to re-board it. While you do this, use your left thumb to keep your reticule pointed at your target banshee.
If you do it right, the arbiter will abandon his banshee, and leap to the next one. To do it head-on, it helps to simply collide with the other banshee, though it is not necessary. Just make sure that you stay even or below it, not above as it will move away from you if you move above it.
The best part is that if you miss... You'll just re-enter your original banshee. I've gone through that whole part on The Arbiter level, on legendary, by simply hopping from banshee to banshee without ever firing a single shot.
I looked and had never heard of this being done before and I had fun doing it and it gives a little more life to the campaign mission.
