Im usually the one responding to these types of questions, seeing that I know a fair amount about computers and such. Well anyway I just got Halo for pc, and its not running as fast as I expected.
My computer runs half life 2, doom 3, and farcry with the settings close to all the way up amazingly, with no lagging or problems at all.

I have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor, and an nvidia geforce fx 5700 LE 256 mb(not the greatest vid card, but can run most games with settings fairly high settings), and 768 mb of ddr pc3200 corsair ram.

Back to my problem. I have to have the settings very low, and the resolution to 800x600 for no lagging at all to occur on Halo. This is very unusual because half life 2, which has better graphics and physics, sorry but it does, runs amazinly with my resolution 1280x1024, and most settings all the way up. I've tried a bunch of different settings and stuff, and I'm clueless on why I have to have my settings kind of low to run Halo without any lagging.

Any suggestions will help

Heyyo,

The prob is they did a really bad job with HaloPC. I ain't gonna lie, optimization's crap, shame on Gearbox for releasing it like that. :(

Now, for your prob, you need to turn off specular lighting. THAT part they did the worse. Really kills your computer. You can use HaloCE, it has fast shaders that at least don't lag it down as much as HaloPC, but still pretty bad...

Man, you will notice a significant difference with CE. Everything is done so much better. Gearbox needs a kick in the pants for the job they did - making a game already 3 years old extremely demanding on even a normal computer.

The Nvidia FX line was pretty horrible at Direct X 9, along with Halo PC being coded very badly, dont expect high framerates.

Heyyo,

Well, gearbox made HaloCE, which was their effort to try and make up for the lagged HaloPC. Sure, it still needs work but at least it diddn't run like it was made with 3d Game Studio, lmao. :p

I think that they should combine HaloCE with HaloPC in 1 big patch... but since these new patches = teh ghey, there's no chance it'll happen.
