What?

The site seems to have expired.

...
...I now have no idea which mod to PM when the Halo 3 forum gets too out of hand...

Stop sending me group invites -blam!-s!

I would suggest just using the report button. I think having lots of PMs referring to spam threads would only annoy mods now that they have the spam que feature.

Also, if you would like to keep up to date incase this domain expires as well, here is a link to the Moderator Finder thread. Be sure to save it so you don't lose it.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

Seriously though, the report button is probably more effective.

Twitter | Nothing

I don't understand why you need to know which moderators are online and why you need to PM them directly. The Report button works fine and if you use it the offending post will be brought to the moderators attention. In fact sending them PM's about this now could actually prove counter-productive because if the thread is being reported and they are also getting PM's about it then they have to waste some of their time reading a PM that tells them exactly what they already know.

Having that tool present on the sidebar wouldn't really achieve much either. You don't need to know which moderators are online. If you use the Report button the moderators will be notified about the post and it will be dealt with. Plus your solution could be abused, allowing people to know when there are no or only a few moderators online.

That would be a good solution for some people, but not for others. There's a high chance that it would be abused.

Ah! There it is!
The reason I was freakin' out was because it use to be stickied, and when I went to see who was online it was nowhere to be found and the address in my favorites folder was expired.
But now I can return to my regularly scheduled mod stalking.

Did you move that across manually using photoshop or is there an option to move it?

I think he moved it over manually. When I saw that, I deleted my history and cache, but it's still on the right side.

Very nice idea PKF. I love it. I doubt it'll ever be implemented though since ninja's are supposed to be hidden assassins.

Actually, I think this may be very well possible. Since we now have a trust rating assigned to each account. Maybe, Heroic Members and above may see it, or even Legendary Members and above. While the others see nothing there. Even though, with the report feature, it isn't really needed. But it would be good to have once something drastic happens.

Like Recon has said before there is no such thing as an emergency on the forums, it is merely but text and can be dealt with in due time.

True, very true. But something drastic, and something that is an emergency, can be two different things. I mean to put drastic in the sense of someone spamming a shock site. And with how many teenagers and young children visit this site, I would say that is drastic. Having that 'tool', if you can call it that, would help alert a moderator faster when someone spams a shock site. Sure, it is a fairly rare occurrence now days, but it still happens.

There was talks of moving the sidebar to the left so I thought that I would run with it just to see how it would look.

The mod watch sidebar idea IS a stretch...but just imagine what OTHER things could be put there.

Not always, I don't think moderators look at single reports always, they look for multiple reports first.

But what if you found something veryveryvery bad in the forums and no one else has noticed? You pm a moderator.

Yeah, and if they do that people will actually be able to see that a lot of the mods aren't on a lot. Or at least that I know.

BEST IDEA:

make an option to put a fraction of your friends list on the sidebar..or only the online friends.
(should be an option to have on or off)

I think the last real forum emergency we had was a couple months ago in the flood when that one guy kept talking about this herbal remdy guy that liked to rip people off and then went off on a kid with asthma when he said he'd rather sick to his inhaler, and started spamming. It got all over...

That's not a bad idea, however it could be abused with people taking risks when few mods are online.

True.

But if you see a spam topic or a "recon" topic you could send them a message and instant lock or ban.

Is that not what the report as spam button is for? This is my interpretation of the spam button, when we report a post as spam a icon appears beside that topic with a number representing how many times its been reported.
With that idea of messaging moderators might lead to confusion, as not everyone is going to report it to the same moderator.
