The End

‘The conscious is cancerous if allowed to linger’

"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."

Heh I think that Bungie wished they had thought of it so they don't have to patch it. Good idea I guess though ;-)

Heh Bungie will copyright that and say that was the intended idea.

Has anyone here pondered why your body will stay in one pose while flying after death? Well, do the people who do, ponder no more! A logical answer to this "problem" lies in campaign.

In Arival, after taking extensive damage from the two kilometer fall from Truth's dreadnought, Master Chief's armour locks up. This go me thinking, 'what if all MJOLNIR armour systems do the same thing after being damaged, to protect the wearer?' If this thought is correct, then your armour locks up after being so extensively damaged that you die. Sometimes this happens to you when you don't fly off as well. Then, you just don't change position on the ground.

So now that Bungie doesn't have to patch this, anyone have any thoughts?

If Bungie does look at this, I don't need my name up in lights, or to has Recon (personally, I don't like it, but still, if you're feeling generous, I could find a use for it in machinima...). I 'd be pleased with a quicker release of the new maps. I started hating the ten dollar pricetag WAY before the Arbiter, and I have no intent of caving in now.

Now that you said that, it kinda makes a little bit of sense...

THIS SUMMER...

What about Elites then? They aren't fully covered by armor.

Ah, but they wear a suit underneath their armour. Who's to say it isn't like a armour "underlayer" that does the same thing?

  • 02.03.2008 12:06 PM PDT

i never even noticed that they did that. and now that i know its not really that big of a deal. people actually complained about this? but i do like your story behind it. its creative.

Sadly, somebody complained about it. Look at the fixes in the new weekly update. One of them involves the locked armour.

At the end of the war. Nothing remains but a few Spartans. We are the only ones left. We are the Last Defence.

Nice theory, but it's being/has gotten fixed for AU1.

The reason it doesn't hold up is because it doesn't happen all the time and when it happens mid-air the body continues it's normal movements when it falls.

You can just say that it was a new feature incorperated in all UNSC armour and that Elites have been incorperating the feature in their underarmour since they allied with the UNSC, and since it was a new feature it still had bugs to be worked out. Or you could say that it is activated manually, like the ballistics gel layer that the Red Team used in Fall of Reach, and that sometimes it is activated, sometimes not. OR you could say it is dependant on where the charater's armour is hit, and depending on your armour perms it changes the micropressure points that trigger the lockup. As for the unlocking when it hits the ground, you can say the system was damaged even further and unlocked, or you could say that because the armour has done it's job for the most part and since the MJOLNIR is "smart," it unlocks to prevent worse damage after the fall.

Also, sorry it took me so long to reply. I had to leave my Dad's house since my parents are divorced, and couldn't reply until today.

Why would they need to be protected from a fall if they're already dead?

It's a glitch, just like the one that causes the flying dead bodies thing.

*Book spoiler alert*

Well, in the 3rd book, Linda gets revived, after being put into a cryo tube. If a Spartan were to die, his/her body could be put into a cryo tube, and he/she could be revived later. However, if the body is badly damaged, there would be no point in trying to revive them, right?

Well, if immediate medical attention is administered it could be possible for a SPARTAN to survive intense injuries. If anything, it could be because the armour is trying to protect a possible AI in the system.

*spoiler*
Didn't something like the aforementioned happen to Kelly, when Doctor Halsey had to replace some of her organs?

I is in your thread reading your post.

I'm o.k with the frozen body but the flying body thing after someone hits you is totally unrealistic

dying is your latest fashion..

i hope they dont patch it. Its fun to see a body just fly threw the air. Or just have one land right at your feet just before entering an intense battle. And the feeling you get when punching someone that far is incredible. almost like sex..
