Subject: What happened to the rest of the Spartans?

I always offer fair game and usually allow some "extermination" of my teammates. I think that anyone should be able to play Halo or any other game they please.

I know in Ghost Of Onyx, it says Kurt(another Saprtan) wa teaching a new class of Spartan-3's. What happened to them and the Spartans-2's?

It never said anything about the new class of Spartan 3s, but most of the Spartan 2s died during augmentation, training, and other missions that took place before the games.

There are a few Spartan 2s that are still alive though.

So... there's a few out there, missing. Sounds like a new game is due. Halo: Rambo Evolved.

Some survived but were disabled by the augmentation process, at least one quit the program to start a family but still works for the UNSC testing new MJOLNIR suits, SPARTAN-Maria062. Fred-104 Is alive with Dr. Halsey and some of the SPARTAN-IIIs in the Dyson Sphere on/in Onyx.

Future history is...an oxymoron, but a fun one!

It says so in Ghosts of Onyx.

The last known surviving Spartan II's are John-117, Kelly-087, Fred-104, Linda-058, Maria-062, and members of the conspicuous Gray Team. There are several that are MIA as well. And the last known surviving Spartan III's are Lucy-B091, Tom-B292, Team Katana, Ash-G099, Mark, and Olivia. The MIA and KIA Spartans have various fates that lead to their demise. I also would recommend reading the novels.

Ah yes, but remember there are no KIA Spartans! They're all listed as MIA to perpetuate the belief that Spartans cannot be killed.

I also recommend the novels, Especially Fall of Reach, Ghosts of Onyx and Contact Harvest. I'm GLaD I could finally find a store that carried them. (Australia's pretty hard to find good game merchandise in, only one store could I find the novels in and one store with one copy of the soundtrack.)

Main Article: ORION Project
The ORION project or the SPARTAN-I program was the phase one of the SPARTAN program.[3] Initiated in 2491, as an element of the ORION project, not much is known about this first generation of volunteer[4] warriors.[5]

Sergeant Major Avery Johnson, a SPARTAN-I.

A Spartan 1.1 is the offspring of a Spartan 1.0. While born human, it is suspected that they are subjected to numerous augmentations at infancy.[1] Some of them tried to create their own vigilante army to fight the Covenant but just as they were about to bring the fight to the Covenant, the Covenant invaded Earth[2].
Characteristics
Smart[1]
Fast[1]
Enhanced vision[3]
Immunity to most illnesses[1]
Inability to become drunk,[1] though they can become intoxicated by an unspecified illegal recreational drug,[4] as well as by painkillers[5]
Decreased amount of time required for sleep[1]
Enhanced hearing[6]
Increased lung capacity[7]
Superior muscle density[7]
Increased balance[7]
Extremely fast healing ability[8]

The original Spartan Project was created to test genetic enhancements on volunteers from the armed forces.[6] Despite a high mortality rate, the ORION project was successful enough to warrant a SPARTAN-II program.

Some members of the ORION Project lived to have children, called Spartan 1.1s.

Last known surviving Spartans IIs
The last known surviving Spartan IIs are:

John-117
Kelly-087
Fred-104
Linda-058
Maria-062(from the Halo: Graphic Novel story Armor Testing, retired)
Members of the conspicuous Gray Team and those of class 3 still remain as well.
A number of SPARTAN-IIs disappeared under dire circumstances and are presumed dead. However, since nobody witnessed their final fate it is possible they may reappear later. Some of those that fit into this category are: Anton-044, Spartan-James (number unknown), Joshua-029, Isaac-039 Li-008 and Vinh-030.

There is also some confusion concerning the number of SPARTAN-IIs in general. In Halo: The Fall of Reach it is cited that 68 children were in the program two years after its initiation out of 75 that were originally drafted. No mention is made of the whereabouts of the missing 7. After the augmentation process all 75 reappear, with 33 being successfully upgraded, 12 surviving but being crippled, and 30 being killed as a result of the procedures.

The status of SPARTAN-IIs is muddied further in the novels. For example, Kurt-051 is listed as dead in 2531 when in reality he was drafted into the secret SPARTAN-III Program until his real death in 2552 on Onyx. Further ambiguity arises from page 260 of Halo: The Fall of Reach where three Spartans, designated "Gray Team", were said to have been on "fields of battle too distant to be easily recalled" prior to the Battle of Reach. Their fates remain unresolved as in Halo: Ghosts of Onyx these three were said not to have been heard from for a year. Finally, it is not certain whether Cassandra is a Spartan or not.

Bungie has said that these discrepancies only seem to be errors, and that everything will be made clear in time.

It is said that John-117 was the only Spartan to return from Reach without life threatening injuries.
