Without the actual username, it is impossible to tell. But ranks are assigned based on where your trust rating falls within the range of possible trust ratings for that day. Bans affect trust by applying a negative influence for a period of time after the ban takes place. The amount of that influence and the length of it are directly proportional to the severity (length) of the ban.

So, basically, if he got a few short bans, it is easily possible for you to get back into positive status after a sufficient amount of time. But, again, without the login name of the account, I can't do anything other than speculate.
Achronos could you have a look at my trust rating please? IMy brother and I share a computer (he is L3W15 7) unfortunately for me he got a 2 week ban and so the soul sends me a lovely PM about using an alt account to bypass a blacklist. I PM recon Number 54 and he reduces the ban to the time when my brother's expires as a favor (which I am most grateful of) however after this unfair (1 day ban) I am demoted from Heroic status to Member after having the title for about a month and being a good member throughout this time.

Due to this I think bans have a HUGE impact on the trust system unless that one ban mounted on top of others way before and was enough to push me over the edge. What are everyone's thoughts on this?

Thanks,
~TOM T 117

Bans might just have a HUGE impact for a short term, but not forever. ^^

I am a heroic member but I never got no message? Is my title still glitched ?

I hate to highlight a specific user (and bump a topic at the same time.... Man I'm gonna get bant), but can you explain this?

I blame stosh.

Proud tester of the Halo 3 beta.

In my entire history here I have been warned two times, NEVER banned, but I still went from Heroic to member before the glitches with the member titles came.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

For one thing, titles are judged once a day. I have no idea when that time is, but it's possible that it hasn't happened yet, and so that wouldn't have affected his title yet.

But from looking at his join date, it's possible that he was pushing closer to mythic than to heroic. So a ban would drop him lower, but not over the line.

Besides, you can't go around expecting every punishment to show immediate and obvious consequences.

This system will never be explained. I was banned for a few months in 2004 for posting a screenshot of Halo 2.

That was a LONG wait. Shoulda read the rules.

Hmm, well I have been banned a total of 3 times over 4 years, mostly for replying to spam (I just can't let a stupid comment go...). Anyways, I was a legendary member until my most recent ban and now I am heroic. I have no idea how it works. I would like my legendary back though... :(
