There have been many issues regarding peoples' ranks and their struggle with the system. I feel that although the system has been explained in detail it has not been made simple enough for people. The fact that it has some flaws does not help but further alienates one's understanding of it. For some people it has been clear-cut and is seemingly fine, but for others there are unexplained patterns and/or lack of consistency.

I didn't have many games played at all because I won almost all of them to get there. The reason in some cases people don't go up is because they win and lose alternatively and their record gets elongated and makes it acts as a win buffer making it harder to go up. What i mean is that for people that have played more games it will take more consistency to go up.

Yes i know about the team ranking up problem, that is a special case that only Bungie, the makers and designers will be able to perhaps explain and for sure fix for wither AU1 or the next one.

I think what would be THE BEST THING EVER and would most likely put most of this stuff to rest is if Bungie re-implemented the whole individual ranks page (if you don't know what i mean, it is the ranks page everyone has for H2), most especially because it showed you how many games you have played and out of those won. That would act as a tool for people to use as either to explain or to predict their standing in their quest to improve themselves and achieve a higher rank.

The service record as it is now is great, but if it had that section or link to an extra page it would be even better. It would provide detail and really be a track record for an individual. If people have their record to look at then they would be able to rationalize for themselves their success or lack thereof.

I don't really see any problems with implementing it. It would require some technical work but if it's for the benefit for the community it shouldn't be a problem. As for the actual stats, i don't think portraying peoples' stats will pose an issue. I think the days of cheating in Halo are coming to a stop. The display of stats wouldn't serve as an incentive to cheat for a perfect record. Yes you can exp boost but the community has proved too intelligent to be fooled by those people and boasting is on a low.

That said I believe that this will only serve to benefit and increase the enjoyment of the community.

Thank you if you read this and please I would like people to vote and comment. This so far is a proposition and should be thus refined by being challenged, explored and questioned.

So in the pursuit of Tru7h, Bring it on lol.

Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

You want a progress bar for ranks?

If that's true, it can't be done. Ranks aren't based solely on wins. Improvement is a major factor once players reach the 40's ranks, and you can't predict improvement.

The games played/wins would though, no?

The Ranks as a number would still be a beneficial addition. So as to be displayed like in the H2 way.

Unfortunately not because the new ranking system is not that simple.

It will be refined to be that simple when Bungie fixes the current issues where the progression gets stalled. Bungie has stated that they will make sure to fix that issue.

In H2 people were able to predict how many games they needed to win to go up.

In H3, using one's own track record for that playlist they can predict how much effort will be needed. And then in real time when they are playing be able to add more games or take away the amount of games they think they need depending on if they are losing or winning.

It would add some degree of predictability so people won't have to keep on asking Bungie and be frustrated. Also I think everyone wouldn't mind seeing their ranks and their accomplishments on their servise record.

No, it won't.

The system is supposed to be complicated, it helps deter cheating.

Yes we all have to cope with the fact that the Halo 3 ranking system isn't linear like Halo 2's was.

What cheating? And it is not as complicated as you think. It would be easier if you think of it as your record. The number of the games you have played does make a difference. If one was to take 10 games to go from say a 40 to 41, then one would expect it to repeat give or take a few games. The ranks you face and your win/lose from there will just add or subtract from the amount of games you think you need to win.

The issues right now are people not going up when they should be, everyone has experienced this, if it was smoother and refined everyone would see a pattern in their ranking.

How come no one has voted?

Yea i have removed the "bar" portion from my post now, but i can't change the poll question. The bar wouldn't work but the ranks should still be displayed for each playlist + games played and wins.

Should this be in another forum?

I'm all for that, out services records displaying what our ranks are in each playlist and how many games we've played and won.

This was one of the best parts of the site for Bungie during the days of H2. People really liked the stats that it showed. It should be there for H3 now that the site is more focused on it.

And the gears will spin.
And the sinners sin, but at least we'll give them hell.
And the righteous few will spit on you.
So bid them all farewell.

I have a hard time feeling sympathy for people who don't have the courage to take charge of their own lives.

I'm not sure how possible it would be, certaintly sounds like a great help though. I definitely agree.
