Remember, trust is calculated daily, and the maximum value possible changes every day too. Since the titles are based on the percentage your trust value is compared to the maximum value, it can easily change if the max value goes up further than you go up in the intervening time, even if you haven't had any negative items against you.

In other words, no the system isn't buggy, stop asking why your title changed, I'm not going to tell you.

Nah, I was just curious if it was still being balanced out. Dynamic updating, interesting.

ha ha ^^

anyways, is there always going to be "roughly" 1736 legendary members and 200 mythics and 12 - 15k heroics, or just it only depend on how many PPL get knocked off.

Its no big deal just wondering.

Does someone half to lose a "higher" title before "lower" PPL can rank up?

I think it may be that the number of places for certain user roles is within a upper and lower limit. For example, 1500-2000 legendary members can exist. If the number drops below 1500, people are automatically promoted and if the number goes above 2000 the conditions of gaining the rank are tightened somewhat.
This means that it isn't necessary for someone to lose a rank for your own rank to be increased.

Men, we've led these dumb bugs out to the middle of nowhere to keep from getting their filthy claws on earth, but, we stumbled on to something that's so hot for them, that they're scrambling over each other to get it. Well, I don't care if it's God's own anti-son-of-a-b*tch machine, or a giant hola-hoop, we ain't gonna let them have it. What we will let them have, is a belly full of lead, and a pool of their own blood to drown in!

lolololol I've been demoted to member three times; once from legendary, and twice from heroic. BEAT THAT!!! OH, THAT'S RIGHT, YOU CAN'T. ONLY I HAVE THE UNDENIABLE ABILITY TO COMPLETELY PISS OFF EACH AND EVERY MODERATOR ON THIS SITE!!! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!! BEND OVER, NINJAS =0

This is OctoDeath:

Real name is Jamie and I live and work in the UK. Member of TWP

Creator of Octoplex formerly found in the Team Objective playlist in Matchmaking

Excavation - Remake of Halo 2's Foundation forged on Sandbox (Bungie Favourite)

It does all get a little confusing this title malarkey, but I think it is a good idea. I was Heroic and yesterday noticed I'd been 'demoted' to member and now I'm a Legendary member. Crazy world I live in!

Very confusing, before I went to Mexico for spring break a week ago I was a heroic member. I come back and I am down to regular member. I have only been banned twice (I think) for 2 days, and I have been a member here since 2004. Also I post almost every day.

I just don't know how I went down to member...

I don't understand the fourm "rankings". Do you get such a ranking from just being active in the fourms?

  • 04.01.2008 6:11 PM PDT

I just noticed i lost my legendary member status recently. No warnings or anything. :( Must be because I didn't post in a month or more.

Say, for example, you have 1,000 "Rank Points" and it takes 1,000 to be a Legendary Member, making you Legendary. Now, say that someone else has 999 "Rank Points", making them Heroic; You lose a point because you have been inactive for a month and they gain a point because they have been active, trustworthy, and just generally a good member. This would effectively make you a Heroic Member while they take your place as a Legendary Member.

[CHART]
Member=0-249 "Rank Points"
Heroic Member=250-999 "Rank Points"
Legendary Member=1,000-1,999 "Rank Points"
Mythic=2,000-∞ (Staff, Employee, Theme Master, and Webcam MVP "Rank Points", I imagine, are recorded but don't have a practical purpose.)

You: 1,000
(Other person): 999

You are inactive resulting in the loss of a "Rank Point" (1,000-1=999)
They are active resulting in the gain of a "Rank Point" (999+1=1,000)

This means that you lose your spot and they replace you as a Legendary Member. If there is always a set amount of members for every member title than I suppose this would be the dynamic that keeps it stable.

(This was just a presentation of my hypothesis on how it works, not how it really does. I imagine the system is much more complicated than this but I think it works well as a simplified analogy.)

If this chart is accurate, I wish I could see my "trust rating". I was banned three times in rapid succesion so it would be purely for laughs.

With my previous hypothesis I have come to a brick wall. What would happen if two people both gain a point from, say, 999 "Rank Points" at the same time while a person with, say, 1,000 "Rank Points" loses a point, What would Happen? How would the system determine which to promote? Of course it would demote the Legendary Member but how would it decide which of the "other members" to fill the void the demoted person left?

EDIT: Perhaps it would wait until one gains a "Point Lead" over the other? Wait until one loses a point (or stays the same) while the other gains a point.

Your original rating is, say, 170. Banned once (170-5=165). Banned twice (165-15=150). Banned thrice (155-25=130). I imagine it would penalize you more and more (exponentially) each time you are banned.

Well, in terms of good ideas, what would count as one? Succesfully reporting a spam thread?
