I've started to learn programming and game creating. JonnyOThan gave me a great program to use. It's call XNA and it has some great tutorials and is pretty easy to pick up. I'm also using a program called 3ds Max 8, which is a program that most game making companies use. I hope one day to maybe work at a place like Bungie, or build my own company.

Calling Terry Wrist and Al Kyder.

This was early 2000, remember, and internet bubble was popping - I was planning to hide in graduate school when I got called by Bungie out of the blue. I don't even really remember sending them my resume.

Maybe bungie is reaching world domination quicker than we thought. Its got enough resources to stalk potential employees... and thats years ago. Perhaps Bungie secretly owns China =O

But more on topic, im sure that the video game industry would be a very lucrative one, with so many potential employees these days. You would have to have an impressive resume to get a chance of a job at a company i would think. Grat's to those with effort and ability enough to get into there.

Of course, Bungie.net used to be written in Perl of all things - so I probably shouldn't talk about code being messy.

Ha......Perl.......such a good language. I can't believe my college still teaches that stuff. I know alot of banks still use it, but I think it is an old language that needs to be replaced.

Honor is a way to live by. A code, chivalrous, in all possible choices and thus the outcome of a great follower,soldier or leader. Friends may still be needed for one cant win alone in a war against many.
This is a way I try to follow...let those who try succeed.

I couldn't let such a wonderful thread die just yet, could I? =]

As much as I hate to admit it, and I know there shouldn't be any reason to, but Bungie is one of the top reasons that inspired me to become a (home-bred.. at least for now) developer. I love you guys.. so much =]

Back in the days of yore, when Bungie was but a crouton in a small bowl of soup.

Those days are gone >_>

I mean, really, they actually sold, and made a profit of the game Gnop! >_< And standards have really, really changed since then. And it's almost impossible for a small group of developers to break big.

Almost =]

Perl is still one of, if not the best, regular expression engines around. If you're manipulating text strings, perl is amazing. I wish .Net's regular expressions were as good as Perl's.

Well Enough Alone...

~"The people who play Bungie games tend to sense that there's something behind the games that's attractive to them. Then they become fans of the games. And then they become rabid fans. And then they become employees of Bungie."(Life story) -Marty

I would look at the job listings and look at the "work for bungie" page to see what they are looking for (they wouldn't lie). Also, in the meet the team section most of the employees have listed were they went to school and what they did.
