There was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much cheating in halo 2...so how can you think it even remotely shows a player's skill (to those that claim this)? I played several matches where one team continually spawned in the same spot and one guy got all the kills. This is just one instance of the cheating...standby, bridging, and other types of modding were rampant. Even then, halo 3 is a much more versatile type of game than 2.
To whoever complained about the sword. The reason it takes a second to lunge is because of physics. You cannot instantaneously take it from sheath to the enemy's gut when there is a thing called gravity. BR spread is a myth, there are no real issues besides people being shocked at their own inconsistencies (I'm also one of them).
Melee is broken.
They are bringing classic maps in an upcoming map pack. I agree they were great...but H3 still has some great levels. WHo said Valahalla is boring! Shame on you :-)
Forge and Theatre are amazing. The pace of the game can be slow at times, but it can also be very hectic. I do not necessarily think that your ability to win in an all out firefight compared to a tactical game of thinking means that you are more skilled. They are both equally challenging, albeit in different ways. At least in H3 there is the possibility of testing your mind as well as your reflexes. Afterall...real war is not all about running and gunning.
