I was just thinking of all those times you were stuck on the gunner seat with a crappy driver and you see a rocket coming toward you. You know you don't have time to get out so you just sit there and let it happen. Well what if you could shoot it before it hit you?

Sounds like a good idea. To me in some of the pics the rockets look 2D though.

It would be probably be near impossible to do that, but it probably is possible, and it would be cool.

Yeah, you should be able to shoot rockets in mid air, because it is a pretty tough thing to do, and I don't think it would take long at all to implement. Thanks for making a thread about this great topic.

It should be hard, but possible. A counter to the fact the rocket chases your ass now, maybe. Killing somebody by shooting their rocket just as they fire it would be really funny.. but it shouldn't happen often.
Shooting rockets people just fired in Outcast and fragging them is hilarious - though it was funnier to force push them back at them.

What if when you shoot it it didnt always blow up?? like it would fly all unstable and maybe whizz of to the left or right, making it seem like you shot a fin of or something.... just an idea

It would be awsome, I just think the usability aspects of using that in the game would be to complex to implement. In other words, they couldn't easily test the system, and it would leave a lot of room for glitches, so I don't think they will. (I'm talking about being able to shoot fins off and stuff.) Shooting the actual rockets would be cool, but still it would be adding to the total development time and I want it to come out as soon as possible. :)

no i mean just making it random not just always blowing up.. just imagin the skill needed to shoot a fin from a rocket flying towards you at 200 miles

i think this is a bad idea... the rockets are slow and have a low rate of fire with only two rockets... the weapon cover the half of the screen... it's a dangerous weapon to use... make the rockets expode in mid-air may cut off all the fun of the weapon...i would change the rockets with a smiling skull...

yeah i understand what you mean id b really pissed of if someone shot my rocket but in halo 2 the rockets travel much faster and i think the odds of hitting a rocket are pretty slim. it would just add something very different to the game

I liked the idea of making the rocket unstable, that would look great

SB-117

Hmm...I just thought of another thing thats completely different but fits the title "shooting rockets mid-air". If youre faling or in the middle of a jump and you fire a rocket, should its recoil force you back a bit? I think that would be cool!
