I'm breaking my own rules, but I haven't played Half-Life 2, and I would like someone to compair it to Halo 2 (neglect Multiplayer).

Are they incompaired due to vast differences? How is the storyline/gamplay/voice acting of one game compaired to the other?

The storyline in Half Life 2 is pretty much a big mystery. There are no cutscenes, and is designed so you don't know much of what is happening in the world.

There isn't nonstop action in HL2 like in Halo 2, but the gameplay is fun (particularly the gravity gun). And thats about it. There aren't too many memorable moments in HL2, but I would give it the title of second best FPS this year.

I know that this a bungie forum and they made the game and all but, I realy like Half Life 2 better.

Better graphics and the story was a tad more intreeging.

HL 2...it doesn't really get you immersed in the story for awhile. For a long time you are just walking around solving puzzles with your bare hands....of course this is only from my experience at my friends house. I was reminded of Unreal Tournament much more in HL 2 than in Halo 2, and yes, I have played unreal tournament. The weapons don't seem as balanced to me or in very hard to reach places. I also feel like I am playing doom. Walking around with 9 huge weapons in my pack.

I have to say that in HL2 if you actualy take the time to look into the story (i.e look on websites and stuff) and also by playing through the first game the story is really good, you will later find that theres a lot more going on than meets the eye. Whoever said there wasnt a lot of action in Hl2 obviously hasnt played it that much. I do think that H2 story is good but is too short and the ending was crap and personaly i would of rather of just played as MC.

Of course the ending was crap...it was a cliff hanger. Everyone wants their answers right away. And yes, a lot of the graphics are better...but it just didn't feel very intense.

no action in HL2 are you kidding me? so when you meet the striders for the first time that wasnt action at all? i think the graphics on HL2 is much better than H2 and the voice acting is really good, the only thing i didnt like is that there isnt any cut scenes at all one would be enough for me.

for me HL2 is ranked number 1 on my FPS games lists H2 comes longer down after halo1.

Oh, and your opinion is right right? He isn't asking how much we like one or the other, he just wants to know how we would compare the two. HL 2 involves more strategic use of the environment. Halo 2 involves more strategic use of weapons. I see no reason why a guy should be able to take 7 hits from a pistol...no matter how weak it is.

Boing.

Comparisons are pointless. They're both brilliant single-player games. All you need to know is this: BUY IT.

Although nothing touches Marty's soundtrack.

HL2 was extremely fun, though the gameplay was not quite as smooth as Halo 2. Sush as switching weapons and grenades. The story in my opinion would have been better with more cutscenes, but the voice acting makes up for that. One thing that is not as good as Halo 2, or even the first Half-Life for that matter, is the variety of enemies. There are the combine, headcrabs, the hanging things, and antlions. How ever the physics and graphics were much better in HL 2, and better implemented through the grav gun. Both endings end in huge cliff hangers, HL2 more so than Halo2, yet I liked the story better in Halo 2 just as a personal opinion. I would have to say they are about even games, but I would play Halo 2 over Half Life 2 anyday.

I really hate these comparison things, I barely see any relation to the game play in either game, besides, HL2 was really just a vessel for the HL2 engine.

Ok, HL2 had a great single player campaign, and it looks great. Buy it!

HL2 is not my favorite game of '04 though, and neither is Halo 2. World of Warcraft is as addictive as -blam!- (i haven't tried it), but with only some of the negitive side effects.
