With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.
Enough with the Bush stuff, guys... I think modern politics might be against the rules here (or maybe thats HBO... either way, lets not get into it).
I chose the Halo 3 option because I think there will be one. But, I also think Earth will be glassed. Too many Covenant forces. Halo's history will repeat itself. The Covenant will overwhelm the UNSC with brute force, and Earth will fall. From the radio transmissions overheard in the Announcement Trailer, things don't sound like they're going too well, and that was before the Chief started fighting (presumeably... but there's no real way of knowing if the demo takes place before or after the trailer).
This doesn't mean that Humanity will lose, however. Sure, it'd be a bad blow to moral, but the 5 remaining Spartans could still tear apart the Covenant from the inside out, rather than blast their way through Covenant defenses. Don't forget that Earth isn't the last remaining Human planet. The UNSC wants it so much because its the birthplace of humanity (presumeably) and the official HQ.
This is just what I think.
And I hope the Chief dies (I've got nothing against him, unlike Lara Croft... she should've stayed dead when she kicked the bucket...). I'm not saying it should happen in Halo 2, but his death would be a very good ending to the Halo saga (AFTER the war... he deserves to see the end of it). If they do it in-game, the last scene should show him being shot into space inside a preasurized casket. Whoever thought that he should have a "walking into the sunset" ending, that would be it. Anyone else agree? Or am I just a dark and gloomy person?
Just my thoughts.
