Subject: the files forums not patroled?

whats the point?

going into the files forum there are hundreds of double even triple posts, I report em, but they don't seem to stop, I think we need more ninjas in the files forums.

I know what you mean. Heck, most of the bungie favorites have double and triple bumps in them.

Controlling fission events without incident since May, 2012.

Those forums, namely the map, screenshot, and clip ones, are so ridiculous right now that I think the twenty foot perimeter around it will cause radiation poisoning. It's just way too much going on constantly to catch it all, or even half of it.

Correct, but you'd figure the ones with a large amount of pages like Bnet favorites would demand more attention to ninjas for them to notice the excessive bumping.

The way I see it, there just needs to be another system or block implemented such as one post per user per thread besides the OP who gets two or three (for the sake of needed responses). There needs to be a system because when you step back. The big picture is haunting, and that's just how those forums will stay until something else is done, for every one bump deleted and warned/banned two will take it's place.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

They are definitely patrolled, but you're right... the ridiculously high volume and traffic of those forums makes it difficult for the ninjas to catch everything, especially at times when only one or two are online.

Even old and blatant "tricks" for "stealthy" thread bumping that would result in locks/bans in any other forum are in frequent use in the files forums.

There's not a whole lot to do about it, and it's not a terribly big deal if you ask me. But it is certainly a problem for any person hoping to post something in those forums and get a real response without breaking or bending any rules.

You missed the point like Vader missed the banshee, your whole argument is covered in bees.
Stop sending me group invites -blam!-s!

I believe there is a solution. When a thread is locked in the files forum, that file can no longer be downloaded AT ALL thus causing the person who bumped to lose all his potential downloaders. The work around to this is to delete the item from the file share and add it again thus making it count as a 'new file' even though it isn't. While this may be true it is another deterrent from the rule breaking that goes on in that forum.

And that's my biggest problem. It punishes those who are intent to follow the rules.

I'll propose this rule. someone who submits a thread there can not post right after his own post, ever.

July 15, 2008... The day the timer stood still.

Just look at the screenshot forum. There are over 191,000 topics! Moderators can't keep up with that. Just hit the "Report as Spam" button whenever you see something you don't like.

No that isn't a good idea in all forums other then the file forums, what do you do if you havea 25k charachter post? That rule would mess up "Epic" posts.

Oh noes, I hope this doesn't go to "We need more ninjas!", because that's been discussed already. You just need to use your handy dandy button right there. =D

Kinda but screenshots are meant to be fun, the shouldn't have to be great to earn a post. Plus, some players, myself included, are still trying to practice taking great shots

The thread creator shouldn't be allowed to post in his/her own thread, at all. This'd fix a lot of problems.

It'd also cause more problems. If that were made into a reality, members would just link to their file thread in other forums, and message members to view their file thread. What if a member asks a question to the owner of the file and thread? They could do it in messages but for every time someone has a question? That's too inconvenient.

A better solution would be for thread creators to be unable to post in their thread ONLY if the current last post was made by them themselves.

Sorry I wasn't clear. The "there" refers to the files forums, and only the files forums.

My bad for the confusion.

Also, "his own post" refers to any post that member makes in the thread. Be it the very first one or the 46th.

Again, my apologies for the confusion.

Last I checked, I'm not Wonder Woman.

Just use the report spam button and we'll get to it. Of course SOME things will get past us, but until you get moderators dedicated to particular forums, that's unavoidable (and having one-forum moderators isn't how this gig works).

"Inveniam Viam Aut Facium" _~

if ( !now ){ when(); }

There must be some automation going on in the background. Have you noticed all the thread subjects that start with '[SP]'?

I am guessing that if enough people report the thread as spam, the subject gets altered with a '[SP]'.

Heres what we need to do.

Get a group of us members maybe 25 - 100 that will regularly go into the files forums and report all bumping we see, then when the mods come online they'll have all the threads they need to lock right in the spam queve.
