Subject: Why the halo 1 storyline sticks out

I think the reason it particularly sticks out in everyone's mind is because of all the suspense. The whole game there were questions that were suspenseful and led to major twists. Questions like:

Question: What does halo Do?
Twist: It kills everything living...OMFG

Question:What took captain keyes away, wht is there a soldier that went crazy, and whey is there a bunch of blood and dead covenant(on the flood level)
Twist:OMG its the flood

Question: What is hapening to catain keyes while you are tring to rescue him on the second to last level
Twist:he is turned into the flood *cries*

Question:What happens now that 343 guilty spark turned off the count down timer to destroy the pillar of autumn
Twist: your gonna blow up the ships core

and finally:i destoryed halo...everything is dead now
Twist:343 guilty spark lives!!!!

For these twists and other, halo 1 sticks out in all of our minds and from this campaign, bungie got its psh for one of the most sucessful franchises ever

You know, I have a hard time like the first Halo anymore now that I know the way it all ends. And it doesn't have skulls like Halo 2.

Man, the Flood, like 343 Guilty Spark... still a scary level. The music was better in CE, and the Marines' lines were definitely the best in CE.

It sticks out to me though, as I did what was supposed to be impossible. I got inside a Wraith and piloted it... not sure what I did to do that, but I didn't get to enjoy it as I turned off the xbox after hitting A to accept the controls display.... had to go grocery shopping. Lame, never got to drive it.

The story line... changes slightly on different difficulties.. which is sweet. But all the twists... made it a suspense filled game for sure. Getting lost on 343 GS sure didn't make it any less fearful, with all the Flood running around to kill ya.

ya...its definetly a clasic

I have to agree. The suspense of everything and fear kept you on edge. In most areas with Flood, they would surprise you, rather than just saddle out in the open. It would seem clear, and 5 seconds later you'd be a meal. And the music was awesome.

R.I.P Steve Irwin...you will be missed

I completly agree with everything you said. I have been trying to figure out why I like the Halo 1 campaign the best out of the trilogy, this finally made me realize what made me love it so much.

Agreed.

I enjoyed the story line but it's not Shakespeare. I've faced more compelling story lines and narratives else where, like in Half-Life and Homeworld.

I like my Covenant like i like my woman, screamin and with a sticky on there face.

the thing that made the halo 1 storyline great was it was clear precise and defined. regroup on halo, rescue keyes, discover the secrets of halo, escape. Simple but powerful. Halo 2 and 3 they tried to get too complicated with the story with the civil war and stuff it got off the main points and then they did those stupid cliffhangers not needed. The problem with the civil war was no more fighting elites. Halo 1 was fun to fight elties but halo 3 it was kind of annoying fighting brutes. I mean i know 2 and 3 they were focusing on saving humanity but they took the focus off the master chief i think and put it more on the covenant taking away the storyline from the humans.

They wanted a broader focus for the storyline, to make more of a twist. Bu fighting Elites was more challenging, and more fun. They wouldn't die after putting a little bit of lead in them at a time, you had to finish them off at once. Plus, they had a set amount of health, so once you took down their shields, you still had to worry about the KO. It was a good story-wise move, but I'm not so sure about gameplay.

Why CE's story sticks out: It was the first.

hce just had the most mysterious and surprising and most horrific(try playing flood lv late t night) stroyline. and in the lv "keys" it's kinda stupid... that if you look at the vent in the wall, you see the captian as a flood form. SO YOU GO THOUGH ALL OF THAT!! just to end up in the SAME ROOM U STARTED IN! to see captian keys. if you look at the wall vent u see captian keys brain form(repeating it)

It's the best first time story. The suspension and revelation of everything is great. It gets a bit old after a few dozen replays though.

Don't forget to look both ways.

I think the story was a bit better in Halo: CE because you didn't know what was going to happen. The plot in Halo 2 was almost completely predictable once you got over playing as the Arbiter. Halo 3's story line did have a few moments of the suspense that was in Halo: CE, but it wasn't nearly of the same quality. In fact, I think the best part of the game was the last film clip you see when you beat it on Legendary, when Master Chief's wreck of a ship moves towards the glowing planet. That moment has all the insanity that was missing from the rest of both sequels.

Halo: CE was possibly the greatest storyline.
Halo 2 wasn't much of the story, I honestly think there was too much killing, I think they should've added longer movie clips for longer information, I'd rather of had the info more then going around repeatedly killing everything, in other words, I think Halo 2 was too Repetitive in some points, Halo 3, honestly gave away a brilliant ending, and Halo: CE made an amazing story.

couldn't have said it better myself

Don't forget to look both ways.

You know what? I just put my finger on it. It took me a while, but I got it.

The problem with both Halo 2 and 3 is that Bungie was trying too hard. Halo: CE was, in itself, amazing. But when Bungie had to make 2 and 3, they had to make a game that would appeal to everyone, and they had to try and make them better than the games before them. Unfortunately, Halo 2 got ahead of itself and even though it was trying to be cool, it fell flat on its face. Halo 3 was able to look cool, but only because it worked very, very hard to do so.

I hope what I said makes sense.
