I know the rocket launcher is still a pretty fun weapon. Although the major change is that you can not lock on with it anymore. Bungie did make up for it by making the missle pod although you can not move as fast as with a rocket launcher. I would rather take out the missle pod and bring the locked on rocket launcher.

'Κύριε Ἰησοῦ Χριστέ, Υἱὲ τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἐλέησόν με τὸν ἁμαρτωλόν.'

I vote the Rocket Launcher

I liked the surprise effect of whipping out the rocket launcher on the whim and then instantly having a lock on to surprise the guy rushing at me. SURPRISE ATTACK!!! You know?

Wrong forum. A regular rocket launcher beats everything.

The original RL is alot harder to use because of the lack of a lock-on. That is kind of what makes it fun!

Having not seen H3's stuff yet, I can only compare to H2.

The CE game has more straight line movement with less change in speed. This makes the original RL workable for CE. There is enough ammo laying around where you have vehicles to kill that the lack of a lock-on is made up for by being able to get more rockets (for those players that cannot shoot straight!)

In H2 the vehicles have alot more to them from a movement standpoint. All Covie vehicles have some sort of boost to get them out of harms way in a hurry (the Wraith having only a short boost still gets it out of the way of a non locked-on rocket). That and the fact that the AI in H2 tends to keep the enemy vehicles moving in much more random and unpredictable patterns made the lock-on pretty much a necessity. Without it one would have had to take all day to kill one enemy vehicle. It is cool to watch the rocket go nuts chasing something. A fun example is when you are on the Scorpion at the open of Metropolis. If you have Sputnik active, your shells will kick the ghosts up into the air, and to have the marine shoot a locked on rocket as that ghost flys around up there can be a blast to watch! I have gotten ghosts up in the air, and then hammered them a second time to move them even more, and the rocket follows, it is a riot!

For CE, that RL is fine, and a challenge. For H2 that RL is fine, just lacking in enough ammo to carry it for very long.

Both of them SUCK as a melee weapon, which is too bad, cause knocking the crap out of covies with that thing for a whole level would be a blast in CE!

What bothers me about Halo 3's rocket is that the projectile speed is slower than Halo's. It's subtle, but noticeable. The rocket launcher is still a weapon that kills players with one hit. Why impede it?

I do agree with Rhudebaker. You can surprise the enemy because they cant tell you have it. The missle pod doesnt have the surprise effect.

Nothing worse than that surprise hahaha man it's great. Missile pods make you a bullet library anyhow.

Missile pods are just annoying. They knock my sniper out of focus, then they waste all their ammo and its user gets killed. By me. Painfully.

Really, it's very simple if you don't think about it

the rocket launcher is better coz u can melee with it and u can pick up more ammo without having to get another one
