No, I post where ever I want. It doesn't matter who made the thread at all.

If someone's lost, I'll guide them in the right direction.
Maybe I'll just say something random once in a while.
Maybe I'll just get into a conversation.
Or I'll just answer a poll or question.

=D <-- But I always make this face no matter what.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

No. I read all posts in a thread provided that the topic of discussion is of enough interest that I get beyond the OP in the thread, regardless of any the individual poster's title within the thread.

I don't understand the relevance of this statement, unless you are using the "pre-insult" technique whereby you imply something bad about anybody who has a different opinion from you in advance, thereby intimidating them into changing their mind or not posting at all, and anybody who DOES disagree must automatically go on the defensive.

I hope you're not doing that.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

I only ever notice a title after I've read their post. For instance, if I read someone's post, and it's spammy/trolly/stupid or whatever, I'll look at their title. If they're just a member, I assume it's because they haven't been around very long, and maybe they just aren't used to the rules. If it's a heroic or legendary member, I assume they're just stupid or trolling.

Generally, I recognize members by their names, not by their titles. There are quite a few normal members whose opinions I put weight on, while if someone is a heroic or whatever and I've never seen them, it really means nothing to me.

Ever since the alteration to the code that determines Heroic Members etc (the one that caused the glitch) I don't care what your title is.
There are more Heroic Members now than Members I think...

Out of 1 million accounts 87,000 are Heroic Members, 1,700 Legendary Members and about 13 are Mythic Members.

I doubt there are more Heroic Members than Members.

Im worried about you Impy, you almost seem sober.

Back on topic, *ignores title* the name of the OP is more important than his, and in rare cases her, title but in the end all that matters is the subject and how its presented.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Not at all. I am sure some people do, no matter what they say and how much they wish to deny it. But personally, someone would have to truly gain the trust and respect; by an actual conversation with them, and seeing how they post in the public forums. If they are helpful, I respect them and will read their posts more than others. If I have seen them spam or be just a plain old annoyance, I could care less what they have to say in a thread. I think, that titles are only there for an incentive to be good, and since it is an automated system, it can be faked. For example, you all may think a member is putting on a show just to get their 'rank' up. There have been countless threads within the past weeks that have asked how to become a Heroic Member, and in all honesty, it's completely idiotic.

Basically, the point is, the titles mean nothing. They are useless. They are meaningless. They serve no purpose to us, but rather to those that need the information.

Nope. I just read the title, decide whether I want to take a look, and reply if I want to.

No. The only thing that stands out to me are forum ninjas because of that orange text.

I never even look at people's ranks unless I'm bored. I do however, know the avatars of some of the more senior posters here and usually get attracted to read those when scrolling through a thread.

Taxes do nothing to affect the share of wealth, since taxes are only applied to income.

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

"for a "best" moral to exist, there must exist the "best" moral base. If the base of morality varies from location to location, culture to culture...then there can't be an absolute moral..

yes. here are the criteria (in order) that i use to determine how impressive a post is to me:

member title
gamertag
avatar
signature
post content

if a poster is only a member, has a lame name, has an avatar that is not nifty, and does not even bother to have a cool sig, then his post stinks in my book.

that is how i do it. but, you can ignore my preference scheme and pay more attention to users who make posts that you actually find of interest or thoughtful. feel free to ignore stuff that is not tied to post quality in any way and just value what is actually posted.

that is one of the many great things about the bnet forums. some people can pay loads of attention to things like member titles while others can just consider how useful a given post is.

*sigh* First off, let me say that I hope this is a joke.

It seems like your priorities are mixed up. Its sad if you are actually ranking post content as the last thing you check for.

asking this in the septagon is moronic because this place is trolled by people trying to swing off the hair on even a single moderator nut

but i really am curious about this. i did prefer having a single title for the common member. every person that hits the submit button should be placing the same intentions in each post: contribution. not to gain attention or gain an adjective in front of a trivial title
That is an interesting perspective. Honestly, I do not judge anyone by their display name or forum title. I do understand the intention of why this trust rating system was implemented, and respect it for what it is. I do not feel that it will ever live up to its full capability because anything can and will be manipulated.

It is important that we, as a community, respect one another equally, regardless of any visible differentiations. Having the title "Heroic Member" or having the title "Noob" is irrelevant to me because that only tells others what I am. The way you portray yourself and act toward other individuals, which is displayed through the content of your posts on the public forums, is what matters and shows people who you are.

I hope you're not doing that.

The relevance is that the Septagon has been in the past a place where people who chase the moderators go to interact with them more. Quite a bit just because of the title we carry. What I believe Imp is implying that coming here to ask the question is probably not going to be answered honestly at all because of that fact.

Alas the crowd of today need something to strive for. Member titles are a small way to answer that need of a large populous of the members. That being said many members will look at a members title and base whether or not to respond or how to respond to the thread. Ignoring what the post content truly is. That is how it becomes a detriment to the community.

A post or thread should be taken for what it is worth. The persons title should have nothing to do with it. I for one wonder how many people respond to my threads and posts just because of my title. I actually probably should not. It would just piss me off even more.

Edit: How does a bear make a poll any way?

I'm not that active, but never dead.

One question:

Why the hell does a member's title have to be on every single post they make. For -blam!-'s sake, just make it a part of their profile.
