Well since I hope you all are ready for some sort of Change from "hating Bungie/MS/Gearbox/Hired Gun" Here's a thread to discuss the REST of PC gaming... the good side of it : D

In my opinion, Team Fortress and CoD are going to be on my hard drive for a very long time to come. Crysis was overrated as all get out, (specially by PC gamer.. 98%? screw Chuck) and once I beat it I'll never play it again until I get a new computer.

Bioshock was sweet... how many games besides half-life two have you stayed up till five in the morning playing? I'm looking forward to Irrational's games in the future.

UT3 I found was like UT'04 except for it raped my computer. Couldn't bring myself to drop fifty bucks on it after playing the demo.

Quake wars was not my thing... I might get back into BF2142 later on if I want to play a Cap Point game.

And I still played hundreds of hours of Halo ONE PC this year. What about you guys? Surely there are a choice few who actually play the PC : D

Somehow, Bioshock has interested me lately. Call of Duty 4 is an awesome game. But I would have to choose Bioshock. =)

I managed to get UT3 to run on my PC at a smooth frame rate so I've been playing that a lot lately.

who says you have to be an ace to have fun?

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

For X360 CoD4. For PC Crysis is EPIC!

You say Crysis is over rated when you say Call of Duty 4 is going to remain on your hard drive for a long time? Please.

I've loved Portal, but never got to beat BioShock or Crysis, which is a shame as I think they're great. However, the most fun I've had in a while is Team Fortress 2. Personally, I think Valve should have made Team Fortress 2 much better considering they've had ten years to work on it, although I'm thoroughly enjoying the end product as it is (and that's on the 360 version with the corners cut).

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

TF2 is a lot of fun if not taken too seriously. I thought Crysis was good, not great. The game missing from the list that is my favorite shooter to come along in some time is F.E.A.R. Currently, I am playing Bioshock with mixed feelings. The gameplay is great and the graphics completely maxed produces some really cool effects. But there are problems. Where and the way in which you respawn is totally fraked. I find myself frustrated, sometimes confused on my location, and depleted of precious ammo and "eve" injections each and everytime I respawn. It's annoying and screws up the pace of gameplay. All the tonics and powers and weapons seem too busy, like they tried to hard, and it detracts from the fun shootouts and flow of story.

Anyway, FEAR is the chronic of shooters to date IMO.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Big edit. Simply put, Gears of War is my favourite recent shooter.

Darkness is Light

Light is darkness

The same but apart

Quake wars is a game i love to play. Even though i have to run the game at lowest setings i still is fun. It makes sniping 10 times easier then halo. I just love everything in it, besides punkbuster. That piece of -blam!- program is ghey. I also get a solid frame rate, and find nearly all the maps really enjoyable.

Also I've played portal, half life 2 and the episodes. however i haven't played team fortess 2 since my 360 doesn't have live and it's one of the wrost games I ever played. The combat sucks and portal is ok but over all the games are half ass piece of -blam!- that just look nice.

I don't usually tell people which games to prefer, but I have to say GoW is WAY better than Crysis.

You would have to say that, wouldn't you? :P

Hello! Star Wars FTW. Also, join the MAW group. Please?

Crysis: Pretty, fun, I'll buy it in 5 years when my computer can run it well.

Call of Duty 4: Stand still and shoot the infinite wave of idiotic scripted enemies. sorry, but I never liked duckhunt.

Team Fortress 2: Awesome! You spawn and you're right in the action, and the classes are very well defined and balanced.

Portal: Also awesome. From load up to end credits, I was unable to leave my computer, great story and inovative gameplay.

Bioshock: Fun to watch, boring to play (for me). I'd like it better if it was a movie.

Quake Wars: I do own it, very fun, but it's got a bit of a learning curve to it. f

UT3: Too hard to hit anything, everyone moves to fast. Just my opinion; I don't enjoy it. Beautiful game though, and runs well on my computer.

Halo Ports: Halo 1: Still playing it, still fun. Halo 2: I didn't even like the story, multiplayer is decent, but when I could be playing TF2 instead...

It has lots of cheaters.

Not from what I've seen. I just started playing Crysis Multiplayer, and I'm usually near the top in kills. I haven't seen anybody that looked like they were hacking/modding/cheating, and I think it would be pretty obvious if someone was cheating. and keep in mind that I don't play on servers with punkbuster, because it won't support 64 bit Vista (stupid microsuck)

Guess I play at the wrong times. The guy I played with last was 1ManArmy. He had super speed (more than speed mode), got headshots from across the map and conquered control points while he was sitting at base in a vehicle.

Well, CoD isn't perfect by any means. The SP is too short (and, as someone said, the AI has a lot to be desired). But I've dropped a huge amount of time into that game, around 75 hours with my source team and TF2 and a little Crysis/Halo thrown in. I think the multiplayer is simply amazing. I could ramble, but it's more than worth the $40 cost of admission.
Crysis just isn't amazing Kim. Is it a solid shooter with some decent mechanics? Yes. But when you add in the terrible (for my system anyway) optimization that makes it look worse than other game on the market, no bug removal from EA (surprise Mother-Blam!-ers!), and the fact that it's JUST a solid shooter - It doesn't really discern itself from the pack.

TF2 was enjoyable not only cause of the art style, but a game play that was awesome. I'd never played TFC except for a few moments at work. I couldn't find any bugs, the community is vastly superior to Counter-Strike's, the whole shebang. Perfect? no. I would have liked to see a couple more maps, most definitely. lol unfortunately for my social life, gravel pit is simply 1337. I've poured 50+ Hours into it, only because because CoD had a rank system : D

I ordered Sins of a Solar Empire yesterday. I still haven't found a parallel for Homeworld when it came to strategy, and when you throw in a 4X formula I think I'm gonna cream my pants. Not only that, but Stardock is only selling it for 40 bucks! It's my V-day gift to myself.

Having played Gears on the PC, let me say that GFWL still sucks and that the controls take a solid fifteen minutes to get used to if you've played on the 360 extensively. Not only that, but mouse users get crippled : / However the graphics are slightly better, for what it's worth.

Okay but I never said I had any disagreements with Team Fortress 2.Posted by: Agamemnon582bc
Portal is not a shooter.
We could debate about it but I would technically consider it to be a shooter since you use a device which fires portals. The definition of a shooter does not necessarily have to mean that there's weapons or violence involved.

Ah well It's hard to explain. I loved it : / Hard to explain why, but Crossfire's up in the top ten maps I've played in a long time. Maybe i'm a noob but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

As for Portal being a shooter, I can see both sides. IMO it was packaged with the Orange box, you're in first person firing something yadda yadda yadda. Strictly, it isn't of course, but I thought it was fun enough to be on the list : D
