Hello.

Ok, first, I do not take full credit on this idea. Many members have had this idea, but I am here to have it discussed througout the whole community. The question: Do you think we should have community icons that represent something?

Before you ask What is this, I will tell you:

Next to our role should be icons, that represent something. They will represent certain things, for example, being active, original member, FAQ writer, AV Specialist, etc.

Also, one of the certain Security Permisions in a group will be the permission to distribute these icons to various members. The person that distributes them will also have permission to edit or create new icons.

Hopefully, the community can put more ideas to add to these icons.

Thanks.

Hello.

Both groups and Bungie Forums. Achronos and/or Bungie Forum Ninjas can distribute them on the Bungie Forums.

Hello.

Yes, but I need support from the rest of the community.

No flaming, but constructive criticism.

I support the idea but what about people with mixed posting. Can I not be a FAQ writer and original writer and AV Specialist, aka Duardo....
I mean what would you do in this situation?

Somewhere out there... in an alternate reality... Marty decided to stay in the ad jingle business, bringing about an age of amazingly orchestrated Pampers commercials.

So for example lets say Durardo would be a "Q & A" icon?

WHY AM I BEING TALKED ABOUT!

AAAHHHHHH!!

I like this idea Goodeye, however, I don't think the moderators would like this idea. They already have enough on the plates with patroling the forums and whatnot.

I can also see someone saying "ELITISM!," which, sadly, would probably happen. Sure, the mods could take away these 'medals' or 'icons' away from those that do that, but then that would be even more time taken away from their job of patroling the forums.

Plus, I'm pretty sure there would be all kind of threads asking what these icons are.

Like there aren't already for member titles, even with your FAQ?

Covenant Cival War

Oh yeah BTW...... WHERES'S MY GIGGITY COOKIE!!!

That sounds like a good idea, maybe that is something Bungie should do in the future.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

It's not about avatars Havok, but rather, icons next to someones title; kind of like what Xbox.com has.

If you build it, they will come.

Unfortunately, you built it.

I couldn't agree anymore with Duardo here. Mods as it is have very little time on their hands. With ass kissary, reading hate mail, banning people, locking threads, warning people, pissing of members because they can, and of course being harassed by their mothers; they barely even have enough time to post as it is. Sure, a few of them are able to post rather often, but the others seem to always be tied up.

Like there aren't already for member titles, even with your FAQ?

You just proved Duardo, and myself, right. If this feature were ever implimented, the spam would multiply two fold. Asking what this is, asking what that is, asking how they got this, asking how they got that, asking how you would get this, and asking how you would get that, etc. We don't need anymore of those threads, it's already as bad as it is. FAQ or no FAQ, the questions will keep on coming, and the spam will keep on rising; as we have clearly seen with the member titles.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

I like the idea, but it could never function under the current hierarchy. With under 30 people having any kind of rights/privileges above those of "members," on a 1-million-member website, the ability to subjectively give out any kind of extras on an individual basis is severely limited. This idea would need additional infrastructure, such as a larger group of individuals designated to hand this kind of thing out and deal with all of the questions. I don't foresee it happening anytime soon, as the Bungie Web Team has shown hesitation in giving any kind of additional privileges to members or expanding the number of people entrusted with the ability to do anything except post and reply.

  • 02.10.2008 11:02 PM PDT

I'm not that active, but never dead.

It's bad enough that people want recon so much on Halo 3, please don't add to that. This is a good idea on paper, but would fail in execution. Besides, Achronos has MUCH better things to do, like make the search function better.

I'm still against member titles being public, but whatever.

Hello.

Thanks for the constructive criticism.

It is just an idea.

I understand why you wouldn't like or you would. I just thought this would be a good idea to discuss.

And the gears will spin.
And the sinners sin, but at least we'll give them hell.
And the righteous few will spit on you.
So bid them all farewell.

I have a hard time feeling sympathy for people who don't have the courage to take charge of their own lives.

I really liked this until I read the bit about the "Recon Rush" as one might call it. Actually, I still like the idea, I just think it looks better on paper (or...screen?) than it would in actuality. The masses would begin to beg and turmoil would erupt, forcing Bungie to blast several of it's former well-meaning members....into the sun. GREAT idea though.

Do NOT send me Recruitment Letters, doing so will get you blocked faster than you can say "Huh?"

Groups would be cool. As for the main forums, the mods might have a problem with it.
