Bungie is pretty relaxed.

And you may not see the mods, but they're there. Even when they're doing other things they have many spies.

Yes.

EDIT: Wait, did you mean all one word posts were foul, or just the foul ones?

DOUBLE EDIT: That was rhetorical. Don`t answer.

The mods let that stuff slide here just because there is so much of it. Just as long as what you say makes sense and has a purpoes then it's fine. If you want stricter rules stay out of the flood forum. You still can't spam here. If I said that you could one of the mods would probably yell at me.

If we made these forums perfect, which I wish, a lot of Bungie fans wouldn't be able to follow the rules. It is sad but true. Right now making these forums perfect would piss everybody off. As I said, I wish we could make them perfect but we really can. Just do what you can to make them better.

Also, remember that we're due for some new (and possibly improved) moderators soon. I know there won't be a lot, but I expect maybe three new mods will come in, totalling up at six. In addition with the three supreme mods (Achronos, Sketch and Frankie) we will have a total of +/- nine mods running around.

No, your wrong.

j/k, your right. The mods here do the best job they can, but there needs to be more of them to get this place cleaned up. As it is now there are only a few hours of moderated posting a day, and the rest is free for all. If they could get more mods this could significantly reduce the ammount of useless posts.

I told you that you should redeem yourself, I gave you a chance, but this is too much, get out or shut up. You are the most twisted person I have seen in a long time.

I have been reading the posts at this forum for several months, finally deciding to join it yesterday to add some intellect to the collective blah that seems so abundant around here. So many offenses of one-word posts, flaming, etc. It doesn't really seem proper...

I may be a newbie to these forums, but not to forums in general. Every other well-developed forum that I've been to (including my own) has rather strictly enforced a group of simple rules that benefit every decent member. What is the point in making a post that simply uses one or two words to answer question or statement without even elaborating on the reason(s) why you think so? (I.E. "No, that's wrong.") Even worse is the most foul one-word post. That is just..spam really. I believe that a good deal more of an effort needs to be made to remedy these problems, as well as others that I haven't mentioned.

I''m absolutely sure that somebody here will use do one of the things I mentioned in this thread as a reply.. Some will agree, others will not.

What a strange first thread...

I personally believe you're right. I'd love to add some discipline to the ranks, but at the same time, I'd hate to have to ban hundreds of users. It would be wrong to alienate loyal fans, at least in my opinion. For example, put yourself in their shoes, and imagine you didn't scout out this forum. If the strict rules were in place, you would post on a forum, and be banned for no noticeable reason (at least to you). You'd feel left out, wouldn't you?

Come on, you're a smart guy. You must see that doing that would be wrong.

There is unfortunately no way to alleviate the issue without alienating or offending a large group. For now, let`s stick to our guns and carry on.

Officium quod Fidelitas.

We're doing the best we can, it's more like one and a half mods at the current moment, but we're trying the best we can. I admint we're under staffed and we could use a few more mods, but picking worthy people is hard to do.

Alienate people, most of the spammers are alienating everyone else! We try to get the spammers so that everyone can have a clean and fun experience using the forums, but with them posting rubish, it's rather hard. And if you want to call them 'loyal fans' then I ask you to what cause?

The spamming in these forums are growing to an extent that will soon ruin these forums. They do need more moderators.

Indeed, Yoozel. But I was referring more to those who are new to the forums and don't have a proper grasp of the rules. It's also true that these people probably should have had the common sense to read the rules when they were presented to them...many times.

It's the "many times" part that leaves me with little sympathy for the little, ahem, "blighters". If you screw up once or twice getting to know your way around, that's one thing. (Heck, we've all fouled up a couple of times.)

When the "foul ups" are consistant and frequent, and persist after repeated correction, the hammer needs to fall. Perhaps a gentle tap at first (1 day), but if Our Hero doesn't shape up soon afterwards the overhand swing (7 day) and dual-wielded flaming hammers (perma) need to come out.

I know it's a fine line to walk for the mods, but I'd rather have one or two "unnecessary" week-bans fired off than have a whole lot of fans alienated by the misbehaviour of a few.

Yea, I'm in finals right now. All my time is being spent working on projects. We will get around 5 or 6 new mods soon. Probably within the month. We will also get new tools that will make our job easier. Including a new system for banning and a way to temporary lock accounts.

Soon, this place will be have less spam....but for now just keep sending in alerts to your favorite moderator. Sorry for all the crap you see on the boards now.

Bungie should get one assigned to each of the main forums so there is always a mod at the forums.
