I remember playing Doom when I was 5. I think some kids are mature enough to be able to play violent games. I don't really have a problem with kids under 17 playing certain M rated games. Of course there are exceptions, seeing a 7 year old playing Half Life 2 where people are screaming with headcrabs on their heads that control them while their insides are exposed is one thing. But I've never seen Halo as an M rated game at all, sure it's violent, but nowhere near as violent as something like GTA, Doom, Manhunt, etc. My 7 year old cousin loves Halo, but I just don't see the problem with Halo. You kill aliens that have blue blood and clearly are not real. Now am I saying little kids should play M? No. I just think some M rated games aren't nearly as bad as others which I don't think little kids should be playing.
PS I never really enjoyed M rated games when I was younger as games like Doom and Turok scared the living foopah out of me :P
