I am a Floodian

Apparently some percentage of the first couple of posts cannot be reported, however, the last couple of them can. At least, this is the case in The Flood. [example] Am I the only person who can't report the first couple of pages of the thread?

Is this an error, or was this done on purpose to prevent abuse of the system.

I think it's been stated that posts older than 15 days can't be reported.

Let me correct that a little. Post older than 15 days that haven't been active. =D I think that's right.

Edit: Never mind. =D

I'm not sure what you mean..... i was talking about individual posts within a thread. How can they be "active"?

My bad. =P Just forget what I said.

Another issue with the button that appears to be a glitch is, when I click on it, and go to another page in the thread, and then return to the page with the offending post, it appears as though I have not reported it. Also, if I enter a thread, report a post, then even refresh the same page, it appears as if I did not report the post. SO, there have been occasions where I have likely reported a post mulitple times....anyone else see this issue at all?

And, I guess my question is-
If I report a post, and it later appears as if I did not report it, A) is it a bad idea to report the same one again, and B) How confident should I be that the post was actually reported accurately?

I love the feature, by the way.

I'm not sure that's a glitch... It seems to be by design. I don't think the system keeps a list of what posts you report.

In either case, I would suggest you only report a post once. Anything more than that might be interpreted as "abuse".

yeah, that is exactly my fear, that I am going to be held accountable for abusing the system, when there is no way for me to know for sure whether or not I have reported the offending post.
Most of the time, I suppose, I will remember - but I would hope that if there isn't a way of knowing for sure whether or not you have reported a post, that you couldn't be held accountable for that lack of knowledge, either.
On the other hand, I suppose they do have to preven people from repeatedly reporting the same posts/threads....I personally wish it kept track of what you had reported, and wouldn't allow you to report one more than once....

Maybe that's something you should post in the Suggestions thread.

That's by design. The system will not show you if you reported a thread after you navigate or reload the page.

A) It certainly won't help you, but once or twice won't be any big deal.
B) Very.

Excellent- thanks a lot. I'll just be careful to keep track of what I report and what I don't.....
Again, I love the feature, but I want to make sure that love doesn't translate into an unhealthy abuse....meaning reporting the same thing multiple times.
Thanks for the direct feedback. Knowing this is expected behavior makes me far more comfortable with what I am seeing.

Thank goodness on number 1.

Sometimes its hard to remember which threads you reported when you report about 25+ in an hour or less.

And 1 more question. If I report an OP bumping in the files forums lets says 20 times (which I saw the other day) and I report 20 posts, does it count as 1 report or 20 reports?

Sorry. I should clarify.... I meant that it doesn't keep a list for the users themselves. I'm aware that Mods and Staff are able to track what we've reported, but that data is (currently) inaccessible to the rest of us.

I accidentally reported a post that I didn't mean to one time. How much of a negative effect does that have on me?

All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

Probably very little. Everyone makes mistakes from time to time.

Could you perhaps tell us why we cannot see what we've reported? It just strikes me as detrimental to both us and the system, having duplicate reports from the same user, and I can't see how someone might craftily misuse it to their own ends.

I've actually noted this too, Achronos. I press that little a guy a lot. For the most part, I remember threads that I have reported. However, having it reset has had me question whether or not I reported something or not. It'd be a bit helpful.
