Subject: We have a serious problem.

I am a Floodian

God. For a Bungie General forum almost everything is about Halo 3.

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

Actually, there are 21 locked topics on the front page in The Underground.
More visible forum descriptions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if it would help or not. But it wouldn't hurt to try, would it?

Nah, I say let them appear like a brightly lit star. Allow others to learn from another's idiocy.

Maybe locked topics should not appear on the thread listings?

And he's right y'know, it wouldn't help in the least.

I understand what you are saying, but there should be a way around it. Maybe add a wall of shame under forum topics.

But I still think that removing them is the best solution. (just off of listings, not deleting)

I just checked the Underground. My eyes bled. There were 15 topics locked. 15! That's 60% of the front page! I really think Bungie needs to change the dscriptions for the forums, or at least make them more visible.

Looks like the ninjas are having a field day.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

I am going to have to agree with Qbix on this one. It may or may not help, but until it is/if it is implemented, we won't know. Personally though, I though the spam was far less back when it said something related to Old School Bungie.

Yeah, I actually see a lot of people say "Well, I didn't know where else to put it, so I posted it in the general forum."

So I don't know. I think that changing the name in the navigation bar to The Underground and having a better description in the forum banner would definitely help the stragglers realize that the Underground isn't the place to post that stuff.

I have noticed a dramatic increase in the number of locks on the forums lately. I'm not sure if it's because people are too lazy to take notice of the rules, or if it's because the moderators lock whichever threads they like. Then again, the moderators have been in business for a while and they were specially chosen by Bungie and seen as trustworthy and reliable, so they'd have a fair bit of experience and they probably know what they are doing. Just sit back, relax, and go with the flow :P

Estne volumen in toga an solum tibi libet me videre?

Nothing suits me like a suit.

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

Member quality today, from my views, is not as high as it used to be. I've been here a really short time, and yet I've seen a community for discussion and debate turn into 'I can hazz reecon' every couple topics in the Bungie Genera, Screen Shots, and Halo 3 forums. People are just to lazy to read the rules, or even take notice of them. Apparently, in H3F culture, if someone posts an intelligent topic, you have to flame him and start a spam thread. Thats all I know from what I've observed.

The Ninjas lock the threads because

1. They are off topic
2. They are spam
3. They are flame bait/ being flamed
4. They are against the rules

Unfortunately, there is an increase in members who.. Shall I say, don't care for the community. They just want to be here. New members are joining that can contribute, but for the most part, everyone just seems to disobey the rules completely and do their own bidding. I may be ramlbing on here a little, but the point needs to get across. I agree, something needs to be done. But I don't think descriptions will help. Is there any way to force members to read the rules before they can post at all? If you haven't read the rules in a forum, you can't post there? That wouldn't solve everything, but it would be a start for those who mean well but are new members.

Hows that for a topic change still having something to do with the main topic?

I have to admit, I've had a couple of my threads locked before, but I'm glad that the ninjas did lock them because they either:

1. Started to become a flame fest
2. Attracted arguments from other threads
3. Attracted people who just wanted to start an off topic discussion or start flaming

The ninjas are pretty much the big brothers and sisters of the Bungie community and they need to be respected :P

Locking irrelevant topics and keeping them from becoming a top forum is better than leaving them open for others to scrutinize the thread. You're pretty much fueling the fire by doing so.

Lockdown.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

I say we change the name of the Underground to "This is not a Halo board".

Agreed. At least take the word "general" out, it's not helping. . .

They did try. It didn't work. Or if it did 'work', the result was too insignificant to notice.
