Of course there were. This is B.net, everything gets complained about at some point. People were saying that the reticle was to low on the screen. It wasn't totally centered. As of yet, nothing has been mentioned by Bungie about this. It's not really a problem.

Try searching for "FOV" and you'll see a lot of complaints, even going back years.

I am a penguin. Every day I boogie on down to the water, and eat fish. Once, while fishing in the deepest depths, I saw great Cthulhu... And he said to me "Shine, to thine own self be true. They can't tell you what to do once you've gone guru." Also, I should tell you, "slide".

Lol, I can't wait for the next Bungie game so I can read thousands of complaints about how it sucks, and how much the previous (in this case Halo 3) was SOOOO much better.

Ummm... and how exactly does people complaining about the reticule make my argument for a larger FOV invalid?

Clue: It doesn't.

I don't know that any Bungie employees ever explicitly came out and said "shut up about FOV, we made it like it is for X reason" but it's just one of those changes that was made and stuck with.

When it comes down to it, they're going to do the best they can do within their resources. I'm sure a wider FOV was tried and decided against.

If you're actually trying to make another argument for the wider FOV, that belongs in the Halo 3 Forum.

Yeah, I've posted about it in the Halo 3 forum too. The responses were, to be kind, less than informative.

FOV = field of view

I really wanna know what the thought process was behind it.

For instance - did they simply just go with a "general FOV" similar to that of competitors? Or was it to "get people closer to the action" and make the game feel more immersive and thus more tense and exciting?

But regardless of that, I think they just totally screwed the pooch with the standard FOV (non-widescreen). I know people tolerate it, but no self-respecting developer should let a FOV that narrow pass muster. Master Chief might as well be running around wearing a box on his head with a pinhole in it.
