Why must people complain about recon so? It's only an armour, and most likely you won't follow and gawk at the person who is wearing it in Matchmaking. Sure everyone would wear it if they had it, but it doesn't give you extra perks or anything.

You forgot something: It's only a virtual armor.

Bunige's game, it's their auction, they decide the rules.

I honestly think that no sane person, no matter how rich, is going to pay that much for recon. It's for the painting. The Recon is kind of like saying "this guy donated a buttload of money to charity, this is a little thank-you"

Hell, I'd donate the money for nothing in return. My uncle recently died (in late November) of a similar cancer. I don't find it unfair to get recon at all.

Yeah the idea of charity is to give money without receiving something other than personal happiness for it.
Well isn't it smarter to host an event that is guaranteed to get people to spend their money rather than just asking for it? Would you prefer Bugnie sold it for their own personal gain?

No I would rather they said, "Here is this really cool idea for charity will you guys please help out by biding for it." Instead it is presented as, "Hey guys give money and we'll give you an armor permutation. Oh, and it's for charity."

Now, that last part is obviously not how it is said. However, how many people do you think are actually bidding on that thing for the charity part of it. Okay, how many people are telling themselves that they are bidding on it because it's going to help someone.

The Frozen Minority; Bungie's real underground. The oldest members, the deepest controversy, walking infamy.

I killed a man to get my armour. I know Ash55 had to cut off his own foot to get it and Yoozel... well that's best not talked about.

So you can sit here and complain you don't have the money to get recon but remember... AT LEAST YOU HAVE YOUR FOOT.

They never came across as though they were doing that. Right from the start they said it was for Charity. Not till recently has it been showed that Bungie agreed to give whoever buys the drawing Recon Armor as well. The Armor is an added bonus for christs sake! The fact of the matter is, is that the drawing is for charity. Not for personal gain, thus, they are doing something good for the community. So, Bungie has agreed to give the winner of the auction Recon Armor. This is in no way any type of ploy. It's for a good cause, why can't you people see that? The Recon Armor is a digital piece of an armor. Why don't you people look at the fact the someone is will to donate over two thousand dollars for a drawing of Mister Chief? You guys are making way too big of a deal out of something that is nothing.

Sorry squirrel, didn't mean to exactly seem to go off on you. I'm just using your post as a reference, with the quotes. This is directed to everyone that has mentioned Recon Armor in this thread; as well as the original poster.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk but...

The guy buying the artwork is doing just that, buying artwork. Bungie's donating the proceeds to charity. The purchaser can have a warm feeling in his Recon Armor that the money he spent to buy his artwork went to charity, but that's not his/her's motivation, or else they'd donate the money - not use it in an auction.

I think whoever the person whoever bids highest is deserving of the recon armor, and it is a good way to get people motivated on bidding

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

:/

Idk, the rush for Recon takes out a little of the "love" for the charity in my opinion.

They did say valuable community service.

So I guess the one with the biggest wallet gets it instead of the one with the biggest heart for Halo. :(

You don't need to love charity to donate to it.

  • 02.12.2008 10:55 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

It's only "unfair" to the people pathetic enough to consider the idea of paying money for Recon in the first place. Anyone who takes issue with Recon being given away in this auction needs to be stabbed in their sleep for being so narrow minded and dim-witted.
