Hi, everyone. I bought myself Halo 1 and Halo 2 for the PC. I have issues with both of them. ^^

Within Halo 1, the game always crashes in the Level "Assault" at the very beginning, after I fought a few covenant and want to go through the first automatic doors. You know, the level, whre the grunt gets scared off by the Pelican from below. :)

I have this problem as well in Vista as in Xp and I don't really now what to do. I have the latest drivers for the respective systems, and the latest Update for Halo. When the game crashes in XP, I have to reset the PC. In Vista I can get out by usign the task manager and I get the message "a graphic driver problem occured, the driver has been set back".

Whatever that means, I tried nearly every graphic driver release of the last half year, really.

I first thought it may be a corrupted savegame or something, because the level before it "Silent Cartographer" still seems to work, at least the first few minutes into it, I tried.

Maybe you can help me?

The issue with Halo 2 is rather minor, when using the BR the muzzle flash often does not appear. Is that a graphical glitch or is it correct this way? At least it wasn't that way back on the xbox.

I looked for both issues into the Microsoft support site, but I didn't find anything related to it.

My system:

Dual core 6750
2 GB DDR 2 Ram
Geforce 8800 GTX
Soundblaster X-FI Xtreme Music

Thanks in advance everyone.

Hello! Star Wars FTW. Also, join the MAW group. Please?

You need to make sure you have killed all traces of previos graphics drivers before installing new ones, if you don't sometimes it can cause problems. In one situation I thought I had uninstalled a driver but apparently it left behind a .dll file that wouldn't let the newer driver install properly, although on first impression it appeared it installed fine, until I started getting random crashes in games with the same error message you mentioned. And I have the same graphics card as you so you probaably have the exact same problem as me. There was a tutorial on fixing it somewhere that helped me, but I don't know where I found it. Remember though, google is your friend:)
