Yes! the blast radius is how far something strikes, and it is 25,000. not 250,000

if youre a spammer acting stupid leave..

if not.. im sorry

There will DEFINIELY be another ring. I dunno how it works. Maybe just like superheats the entire area or something for a few minutes burning everything but the flood are weird so they live through it. Maybe the increased heat sets off infrared things in the other rings. Im taling like 300 times the PoA explosion

3+ we dont know if installation 04 is the last one. It might be the fourth of ten trillion

  • 06.13.2004 9:51 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

its 25000 light years with the Halo ring being the center.so it will be an enormous circle that goes 25000 light years in all directions

ok... im with ya so far> but what would halo installment number 4 strike within this radius? would it like fling the flood into outerspace for a radius of 250000 light years or what>? if the blast was somehow started, i mean what would happen within this radius, explosion, super sonic heats, smelly gases? what....>>??

well it would kill all things that are potential food for the flood

I.E. covenant, humans

That would starve them

Also, the halo would set off all other halos and basically it would go on and on until the halos the edge of the universe(AT THE FORERUNNERS TIME) The universe of course expanded

This got me thinking, and I'll probably need a little help from someone who has read the books. Does the Halo story only take place in our galaxy, i.e. are the Humans and Covenant from the same galaxy?

The second question I have is that are the Halo rings supposed to be only within our galaxy? I seem to remember there being some "the galaxy will be quite devoid of life" comment from 343GS, so if no one knows I will assume that's the case.

Assuming the answer to both these questions is "yes," then I would feel confident in saying there are only 4 Halo rings. Here's my logic:

Our galaxy is 100,000 light years across. Assuming each ring has a radius of 25,000 light years, that means 4 rings would ROUGHLY cover the galaxy. The only exceptions would be the areas not overlapping in the blast radius/sphere, and those not covered due to the spiral shape of the galaxy.

But I doubt anyone got out and plotted the reaches of the galaxy to write the story, so I'm assuming the author got lazy and said:

4 rings X 25,000 light years = 100,000 light years. Any extra rings, from a functional aspect, would be redundant.

Pretty sure GS meant that that halo will make the galaxy devoid of life

Since the flood could leave the galaxy, probably as much as the foreruners could make bfore they died

no GS cant activate the installations without outside help

Like if the HALO was activated by some1 else or GS found a way to do it by himself

he cant because units with his classification cant do that.thats why he has the Master Chief do it for him

25,000 light years in EVERY direction. It would be a globe. So one explosion could trigger thousands of others and create a potentialy huge chain reaction that could kill everything in our galaxy. The thing is, it doesn't make sense that they'd put them in empty space, it wouldn't do any good. So maybe, the Halos fling the flood and the blast radius is how far they would send them. Maybe there isn't heat and stuff, just a concusion blast that sends the flood flying, but only in our own galaxy. I think the Forerunner's goal was to kill everything in this galaxy for some reason, maybe to act as a security system to keep our races out of the other galaxies and harm other life...

no man . it all depends on which way the Halo ring is aligned if Halo was a ball, then it would go in all directions.its more of a circle that probably emanates from its edge. or think ripples in water when you throw a rock in.

It wouldnt be a globe but an oval. B/c HALO is a circle. So the edges around the actual physical thing would be 25000 lightyears from there. But the interior of the circle would stick out 25000 lightyears from there. I dunno how to explain this well sry
