I'm gonna be a networker, then computer forensics, then hacker.

Think that'll be good enough?

I personally want to work in game development in general, such has been a dream of mine since about the same time as you... Right now, I am taking classes in both web design and coding, while a sophomore in High School, and Im also working with a great little program named blender (freeware CG art program) and getting kinda good.

But yeah working for bungie would definitly be a dream, seeing as how the two greatest FPS's were made by these world conquring Pirates of the high seas (Halo and Marathon of course, thank goodness for the windows conversion).

Wow that's a complete overstatement.

PLEASE PROOFREAD ALL POSTS! Dictionary.com

When you get to high school, take LOTS of classes. Art classes, computer courses, level design, programming, engineering, the whole thing. Then go to college. Continue all the aformentioned courses there, and then get into a company once you graduate with at least a Bachelor's Degree (not necessarily Bungie). Get some experience and a feel for the industry.

Then and ONLY then, should you apply for Bungie.

Good luck!!

First and foremost, you should decide which aspect of the games industry you want to go into, so that you can take classes which aim towards that area. If you're looking to go into programming, you should probably look into taking more math classes in high school, checking out some programming tutorials and maybe buying a few books on it. If art is more your forte, you should definitely think about taking art classes and going to an art-based college.

A lot of it is outside school, as well -- use some free time to look this stuff up and get a good understanding of what that job would require, so that you have a good foundation to build on. If your school doesn't really provide much education in your area of interest, you may have to take classes outside school with places that do teach for that specialty, or with things like programming, you can take online tutorials and things like that.

So essentially, get a good idea of what it is that you want to do, and then go from there. Knowing that you want to get into the games industry (or any industry, really) while you're still young gives you a lot more of an opportunity to get a head start. If you read up on the specialty you're looking to go into, you can get started with the fundamentals and maybe even get a good handle on some more advanced things before you even go to school for that specialty, so that when you eventually do go to school for it, you'll already have a good idea of what you're doing.

"I pledge to punch all switches, to never shoot where I could use grenades, to admit the existence of no level except Total Carnage, to never use caps lock as my "run" key, and to never, ever, leave a single BoB alive."

2B || !2B - Why don't you look Inside the Machine?

My best advice is to find something you like doing that is relevant to working in a games industry (really almost anything these days) and stick to it. Don't let anyone crush your dreams, tell you that games don't make you money, you can't have a career in the entertainment industry, or anything like that.

If you like to draw or are an artistic person look into different art career paths. If you like computers, math, or programming look into programming/computer related jobs in the industry. If you like organizing and managing things/people, look into a business related field in the industry.

Just because you're in middle school doesn't mean that you can't set goals, dreams and keep them too!

I started out in middle school wanting to be a Biologist. I planned out my career path and started looking at what I needed to do to become one, then I played Halo and never looked back.

Most important rule is: Stick to it and never give up. People will tell you the dumbest, cruelist, most untrue things. However, always keep your hopes up and stick to what you love :)

Well I am currently getting myself in with the computer programming end of games at DeVry. Some of it is way over my head but, I like to think I am slowly learning it and getting the hang of it. Seems like programming is a little hard to learn and teach in some ways.

But I would suggest, as others have, start looking things up about gameing. Like the inside stuff, programming, design, characters, character modeling (or any type of modeling in games) and that type of stuff. I am sure there is tons of stuff over the web. Then you can figure out what you wanna do in the industry and focus on that.

Right now I wanted to get into something with games but, I wasn't sure what part... so I just took the program at DeVry that had to do with games. I to often wanted to maybe work at Bungie but, I dunno if when I get out of college I will be that great at anything to even work for them or any other industry. At least I know what kind of hard work goes behind the all the games Bungie and other game industries go through.

Honestly programming isn't the best thing I am good at but, at least I am trying. And I did hear that a lot of places are looking for good programers and that is where the most money will be made... but, you do have do something you want to do and nothing you are forcing yourself into because of some small little information you hear about.

But that is just my view of everything. Hope it helps some.

QFT.

An extremely talented, good programmer can be worth his weight in any currency known to man ;)

If you want to learn how to program computers I suggest that you beef up on mathematics, logic and analysis, as well as actual computer languages.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

Just make sure you know what you wan to do in the video game industry: Art, Design, Engineering, AI, ect. I like drawing and working with photoshop, so hopefully I can work my way into the art department, but I'll probably learn how to program before I graduate. It really sucks when your highschool only has like 2 computer classes, both of which being about Word, Excell, Powerpoint, ect.
