This almost always spawns religious discussions, but I'll answer anyway before the close...

There is no meaning to life because 'meaning' is an abstract concept that doesn't apply outside the minds of humans.

The meaning of life......wow. Let me think......hmmmmmm. Okay, got it. The meaning of life my friend, is to reproduce and to protect us as a species. You know from the other Varelse or Utlanning sentient species that exist. Sometimes even the Ramen ones...

Why would you create a construct with patterns that question thier own existence? I *cough* think it would be awefully funny if someone created sentient beings just to watch them ask why they exist and see what hypotheses they come up with to explain it.

Seriously, though, meaning is subjective. We can only define the meaning life has for us. If we search for a meaning given by someone else, we can't know for certain that we are right. If we assign the meaning it has for us, we can't know for certain that we are wrong.

There is no meaning, reality is an illusion. Everything is an illusion. I can show you the way out. Take the blue pill and everything will return to normal. You won't remember this conversation and shall wake up in your bed, ready for a new day of work. Take the red pill, and I will show you how deep the rabbit-hole really goes. It's your choice, Knee-0, for you are the one.

Who ever said there had to be a meaning to life? What if we're here for no reason other than to ask the question "what the hell?"

yeah, Wallace and Gromit kicks a whole lotta ass. more than any 'meaning of life' stuff. does it matter what the meaning of life is? you live, then you die. the end.

I addressed that possibility in my previous post on this thread.

No thanks, Terradyne. I'm not into the pill-popping culture.
That wasn't a trip, that was real. I think you shouldn't be taking pills if you can't even tell whether you're tripping or not.

I ain't into pill poppin either, just find it entertaining. Besides it's not culture. Western peoples tragically misuse the word culture. There is nothing cultural about ingesting strange chemicals to get a high. A few cultures may have that, but it doesn't take center stage.
