Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

People post in the treads saying they reported it and locked, etc... but they bring it back to the front page.. I think that is a good reason for a no warning ban.

Okay...?>...
Mods do what they feel is necessary. They don't have to ban all who say "Post reported... banwagon" but most of the time they do. It is to their discretion.

The thing is that you can report a thread and not post a reply in it. Just reporting the threads is what to do so then the thread doesnt get bumped.

I'm a serious dude, so what?

i'm getting pretty aggravated with all these idiotic recon threads. i think it's stupid that someone can just post BS and nag about that armor, and they end up getting their thread top of the forum for hours, and only because people are posting saying stuff like "you're gonna get banned."

i definitely see this as an effective solution for those threads. if not ban, a warning though.

I don't believe that banning everyone in a spam thread is a smart idea.
Even though responding to spam brings the topic back to the front, that doesn't mean that some genuinely good members should be banned.
The OP and any other people who reply to the spam with more spam should be banned.

I always find it amusing when people censor their own words before they give the filter a chance.

Anyway, yeah, replying to a spam thread is like stepping into a warzone. Even if you have good intentions, you're just making a scene and you're likely to be caught up in the crossfire.

Well, I certainly hope they all get warnings, at least. I report every single post I see like that, it's not hard. :P

Genuinely good members don't post in spam threads.

And sometimes it does happen. Mass bannage, or at least warnings. But it would be great if it happened more often...would get rid of all of the useless spammers.

Excuse moi, I just hate how idiotic the Halo 3 forum is, with all these "sign here if ______" and so on.

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

Right now it is our general policy to discipline people who keep the obvious spam threads alive. The warning is quite clear and we act based on the assumption that most people have taken the time to read it.

I personally do not believe we should have to do this and i would much rather have some magical scheme which assures that more and more people don't post in these threads and just report it. Unfortunately, no magical solution exists yet.

Absolutely.

There is no reason to reply to spam. No need to post "locked" or "reported", it doesn't help a bit. When people learn, we can ease down. Then again, this is the halo 3 forum...
I don't always ban everyone that replies, because the truth is, when you get to page 6, the banning gets a bit repetitive.

Not a lot maybe, but a lot that was publicly visible.

It would be excellent if the moderators banned everyone who replied to an obvious spam topic! Nobody would do it anymore, and all of the conflict caused by the thread would virtually be eliminated.

Everybody thinks they are the special one and can get the last word in.. NO! Just don't reply! I don't know what people don't understand about that.

I agree. The "In before the lock!" phase is over, but people are still trying to get the last word in.
