I remember a while back that the top forum thread there was a topic talking about taking over the Flood. All the moderators got pissed about the thread we made about it on the Flood.

Didn't matter. They phailed.
Weaklings.

We were too strong, we had too many incredible warrior members, back then.

There are a lot more 'tards on the OF now than I remember there being around a year ago...

New Flood

In fact, one of the groups I was in mentioned another group called the New Flood. Yes, the New Flood. I thought, what the heck, I might as well join the group to see what's going on. I was shocked at the amount of flaming and hate going on there. I saw there the more well known members of the Flood posting there, it wasn't pretty. Membership of the New Flood is optional, we don't actively promote people, if you joined and don't like it then piss off. The New Flood is a group that is identical to the flood except with less moderation. That's what happens when you have less control and moderation. And we don't go about slandering members on the public site, we do so in our group, as I know for a fact that most groups do. We don't bring our gripes with individuals onto the main forums like you seem to have done.
There were threads containing hate posts about certain moderators, or any specific member.
Are you saying people aren't entitled to their own opinions?
And they even have Master Forum Ninjas and Forum Ninjas. They didn't even moderate actually. I'm not sure I follow, why would they moderate in Private Chapters?

Dianna Agron is the epitome of perfection.

Quinntology.

I think it's funny that within the first couple of pages, nobody from that group even bothered to look here, but when one member posted, a lot did.

I'll repeat what I said. The New Flood, while it is a good idea, I personally do not like it. Why? I don't like a place where people are free to talk behind each other's backs. When I did browse that group I noticed there were a couple threads about Pezz and how he was this, this and this. I saw a couple other threads about specific members. And this isn't counting the numerous times I saw hate messeges and posts in other threads that aren't about specific members, now this may be my opinions, but I think that that is why Bungie.net is getting worse, groups like that.

My bet? Over half the threads made in the New Flood would be locked and members banned if they were in the normal Flood. And not just because our mods may be strict sometimes, but because they are just stupid and hateful.

That's because after I posted here, I posted a thread about it in the group.

People don't like each other, that's the way the world works. There are probably people here that you think are good members that are just as gossipy behind closed doors.

I just don't like the fact that you singled our group out.

It's hardly behind closed doors. Anyone can join the group.
What I'm curious about is how you think that a private group, that until now has never even affected the main forums is making bungie.net worse?

I was referring to other groups of people who may talk off-site or in approval only groups.

The whole point of a Private Chapter is that you're able to express your opinions without mods interfering. In fact, a good number of mods post smei-regularly.

And again, how is a private chapter made up of what you yourself said were some of the most notable and awesomest members hurting the main forums?

dude, your so right, we should all just leave the group, and then when someone dosn't like the way our hair looks, we should shave it off, and then when someone dosn't like our accent we should just not talk. because it would suck, if someone didn't like us.

I did not single out the New Flood, please understand that. I listed offenses from each forum and even from another group. This thread was not made to be geared toward one group. Please, could we talk about the state of Bungie.net as a whole, and not just one specific group, that was not why I made this.

I'm a serious dude, so what?

Wow, what did I miss in a day?

O.K., since everyone is weighing in with their opinion about private groups, I'll throw mine out there. I'm not an active member of any groups currently, and it bothers me that a group would find a noble cause in complaining about specific people. The excuse of "everyone does it anyway" is stupid, I think we all remember the other part of that ("if they jumped off a bridge..."). The simple fact of the matter is if a group is taking up forum space whining about people they don't like, that group is pathetic (or to use another poster's word: lamesauce).

Groups do spill out into the public forums, as evidenced by the direction this thread has taken. To think that being poor Bungie.net citizens doesn't hurt the community, you've got another think coming. Being base, common, and backbiting is never productive and contrary to Bungie's ultimate goal of total World Domination.

IMHO,
-brady

So we can't focus on a specific part of your post? That seems silly to me, you shouldn't expect people to remark on the entire post when only a section of it applies to them directly. The members from New Flood have been civil, on-topic and non-spammy. Don't tell us how to post.

Edited for grammatical retardedness.

Taxes do nothing to affect the share of wealth, since taxes are only applied to income.

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

"for a "best" moral to exist, there must exist the "best" moral base. If the base of morality varies from location to location, culture to culture...then there can't be an absolute moral..

if you do not like the quality of the forums and wish to make things better, then report posts that violate forum rules. that is the best advice that i can offer.

i was going to say something sarcastic, but... i think pointing out how many paragraphs there have been in this topic and a quote can "single" out the irony.

Phrog pilots, reckless and free. We would strap into our birds, set the engines on fire, and leave these earthly bonds with a chorus of WHOP WHOP WHOP. Akin to beating your chest and howling in defiance at the rest of the world.

Ok, ok, enough about the New Flood. This Topic doesn't need to be turned into a discussion about how a Group influences the general state of affairs of the Community. Members are allowed to create Groups and carry on in a manner not suitable for the main Forums. Hell, if they keep it out of the Main Forums it's one less thing for the Moderators to deal with. :)

The ratio of crap hasn't changed, it's just that with a larger population there's more crap to sift through. I have to spend my time here digging through poop and I come across plenty of gems in the process. It's all in what you look for. There are still plenty of great members posting wonderful replies so don't let the bad apples blur your vision.

Like others have said the biggest thing you can do is be a positive and mature example. We, the Underground Army, can't change how people behave on the internet. There are far too many people who have grown up under the veil of anonymity that the internet and Xbox Live provide. In their immature state they think that it's cute and funny to be an -blam!- and some transfer that behavior on to here. You can't make them grow up, but you can show them how to interact in a positve manner. So don't jump on the "Halo 3 Forum's full of idiots" bandwagon so fast. That is a disservice to all of those people making great replies.

Maybe one day scientist will develop a pill that makes people more mature. My only request is that it be a suppository.

P.S. This isn't directed at anyone in particular I'm mostly just replying to the general thread. And just because the Ninjas may not post all the time doesn't mean that they aren't around.
