Subject: "Special" privileges to Mythic Members?

July 15, 2008... The day the timer stood still.

The whole Heroic, Legendary, Mythic thing is based around a trust rating, correct? Well, I had an idea: maybe Mythic members could have their own avatar. The reason we don't have custom avatars now are, quote (or something like this), "It would not be long until someone posted a picture of their own ass." Well, if Mythic members have so much trust, then why can't they be allowed a custom avatar? And of course, if the system is abused, a blacklisting is always possible.

Or, Mythic members submit a custom avatar into the system that a moderator checks every once in a while and ok's it. It's not like there would be an overload of avatars considering that there's only 200 Mythic members (and rules could be set to the avatars).

Post your thoughts, comments, and concerns.

Well, being all Mythic, I'm totally for that. >_>

I think somewhere TGP asked if mods could have a custom avatar without have it sent into Achronos, so I think all custom avatars would be sent in for a mod or Achronos to approve.

That would be the funniest wrong thing ever!.

Sounds good, but its seems like alot for the mods to handle having to approve everyone's avatar.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Actually it would be pretty safe because all custom avatars go through a bungie overload/webdude.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

NO WAIT

Mythic members should BE the avatars! We RULE!

That was a joke. We're still members, just mythic ones. Bad idea.

From the ashes

Nevermind, Havok reminded me that all members regardless of titles are equal( never truly forgot but I kinda did).

Map guids, Training and a great community!

If they were allowed, people would also want them which is a good thing. Those members which aren't mythic would start being good and obeying the rules in order to progress in title. Therefore leading to less spam and a generally a happier community.

I think that mythic members should get a larger selection of avatars but not custom avatars because even if there were 200 members if they each made one custom avatar a day for 2 weeks that's like 2800 custom avatars!

Ok I went kind of overboard but still bungie doesn't want have to check a lot avatars all the time

Not trying to hate on Mythics, but I say no.

It's like this:

Yellow Text: Teacher
Orange Text: Student Aide
Grey Text: Student

Mythic members and members have grey text, so they should be treated equally. [/spelling?]

I like your analogy, but notice how there are also honors students (who get extra privileges due to their extra effort and reliability).

I'm for this idea.

It's like the one ring, man.
The power corrupts you.
You have to destroy it.

There are only about 200 mythics, right? Not too many to moderate imo. They must be pretty trust worthy to reach that level. And if they do post their ass...BOOM! Back to basic member with no custom avatar.

I think it would do more good than harm. Mythic's would have an even more inflated ego (jk), and would be more willing to behave themselves and set an example as respected members of the community. They've earned it.

Members and below would also be compelled to behave and earn their own win-sauce custom avatar. I know I would be.

Out of interest, what are the rules for custom avatars? This is aimed more at ninjas or theme masters than regular members, but if you know...

I assume they can't use brands or rival game characters, and obscene stuff goes without saying. I'm just curious because if I ever got that privilege, I'd use a bottle of orange lucozade. Random, huh?

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

No, Mythic members haven't really done anything to make them stand out.

People who deserve custom avatars are the people who actually contributed to the forum like Ninjas, Theme Masters, Web team, designers.

Anybody can be Mythic and still be "another member".

To conclude, you have to earn your custom avatar.

This will make regular members feel underpowered, and [maybe!] a few Mythics will feel "above the law".
Not underpowered, just underprivelaged. Therefor giving them an incentive to behave good. And don't worry about a Mythic overdoing their privelages. With only 200 or so, the mods will quickly be able to deal with anyone who lets their title got to their head.
