Well, being all Mythic, I'm totally for that. >_>

I concur, totally being mythic and all that.

I, too, agree wholeheartedly. Then these useless but kind of pretty extras will be something that people will want to work for to earn, like the PS3.

Privileges for doing absolutely nothing? Hey, it might work!

That's the beauty of it. They do nothing, and get things that do nothing in return.

Your title has nothing to do with your number of posts.

Wouldn't work. Mythic Members can be warned and banned. They can lose their title at any time. Then what? They still get to keep their avatar? Nah, it wouldn't work.

It'd be cool, but it just wouldn't work.

No, they wouldn't. The number of Mythics is small enough that I doubt the turnover is ever going to be very high. You are right, though, any privileges should probably be automated.

I like the idea but probably only because it benefits me. I'm a selfish jerk like that.

I would hate the fact that it would be unfair to everyone who isnt a mythic. And only a few of us are.

It's not unfair. Mythic members have been on Bungie.net long enough that they have earned trust from Bungie. They have probably been the more "Bungie faithful" in the community, so it seems right that they get a little something special from Bungie in return. You make it sound like Mythic members were chosen at random.

I say that only Forum Ninjas and up should have custom avatars. If Mythic members are allowed to have custom avatars, then people will start threads saying "I can has mythic?"

I think that the forums' "~Mythic Members~" have earnt enough trust and been here long enough to get a little "reward" don't you? ;-]

mmm.....no. I think that custom avatars would be going a little too far with the privliges. Come to think of if, I would probably keep my same avatar if I could choose to have a custom one or not. Maybe not the exact same avatar, but it certainly would be an ODST :)

Just like moderators, or Recon. We need to stop crippling the system just because we're afraid of people whining or being jerks. There's other, better ways to control for that than to strip things away from everyone.

QFT. I'm quite sick of things getting stripped away from us just because a few people are afraid of a little complaining and elitism.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

It still doesn't change the fact that you did nothing to get your member title.

I think behaving for up to four plus years is justification enough for some sort of customization for their avatars. The people who have lasted that long have often been great contributors to the site and have proven themselves trustworthy enough to have a custom avatar.

A custom avatar isn't just something Bungie hands out. You have to earn it. Anybody can create an account and stay out of trouble. Plus with the recent amount of increased Mythic members, it proves my point that it doesn't require much effort to wake up one day and "become" Mythic when you were Legendary last night.

Sure I did. I was an active member for 4 years and didn't get banned or warned once. Isn't that enough for something nice but essentially meaningless? It is possible for anyone to avoid getting banned, but that doesn't mean they will. That's why we have the system.

You're treating the custom avatar like it's a holy grail, when the current situation is only due to the idiotic userbase. Most forums let you have a custom avatar; it's only because it would be too difficult to regulate them that Achronos blocks them. It's not like Recon, it's just a matter of not being able to trust the vast majority of our userbase, and the userbase being too large for the ninja to be able to clench their teeth and police them.

By the way, please don't think I'm lobbying for this because I really want a custom avatar or whatever, that's not it at all, although I am aware of the conflict of interest. ;-)

So you want a custom avatar because you've been here for 4 years?

... What can we say? Yes?

That'd be really cool. Mythic Members have generally spent a lot of time here, contributing, helping out, you know. ;) It would be a cool thing, but in the end it's all pointless. Just a way to waste time. :D

I personally don't have very much invested in it, but yes, it would be a nice gesture. That is, assuming you are still working within the trust system, just a pure member date thing would be a bad idea, obviously. It probably won't happen, but I don't see many reasons not to, other than technical ones. Reread my earlier post for my reasoning, I edited in a lot of things that you probably missed. It's a bad habit, I know.

Yes, but custom avatars are like a less coveted Recon armor. Bungie gives it as a gift for people doing something for them, but on the forums like moderate them.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Nothing except positively contribute to the site for just shy of four years...

EDIT: Note, I do not support this idea or the one I'm about to suggest.

An alternative would be a section of "mythic only" avatars that are available only to mythic members, "legendary only" ones for legendary members, ect.
