I think it has to do with the amount of time you been a member and how often you sign on to bungie. I dont really post that often, so i dont think it has much to do (if anything) with the amount of post you have. I also dont think it has much to do with if you been blackelisted.

Since i got halo 2 i pretty much have signed on to bungie almost everyday, so thats why i think it has to do with time and how often you just visit bungie.

Taxes do nothing to affect the share of wealth, since taxes are only applied to income.

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

"for a "best" moral to exist, there must exist the "best" moral base. If the base of morality varies from location to location, culture to culture...then there can't be an absolute moral..

wow. thanks for pointing this out. you have made roughly 8 pages of posts in the last 8 months, but your account is old and you log in a lot, and that is enough to earn mythic status. if logging into bnet is enough to help members earn titles, then they have even less meaning than i thought.

as for bans, my title was removed after a recent ban. i strongly suspect that this is part of the formula.

Your membership is decided by the Forum Ninjas. And its up to them and their emotions at the time what your membership title will be. I got in an argument about communism and I went from Heroic Member to Member. WTF!?

No, you lost it because you've only been here a month and shouldn't have had it anyways (Source).

I could be a heroic member by now (1 1/2 years on b.net) but i was banned too much.

All the bans were well worth it.

Note: If there is some restriction against speaking of the decoding of the titles, I'm sorry, ban me. I just thought I may point out my little observations.

Assuming that you haven't been banned, punished, whatever, you still post at least once every once in a while, and everything else in the world is okay...
A Member is one who has been here for less than a year.
A Heroic Member is one who has been here for at least a year.
A Legendary Member is one who has been here for at least 2 years.
A Mythic Member is one who has been here for 4 years or more.

Based on my observations of many members [Member, Heroic, Legendary, and/or Mythic], I have come to my conclusion that this is how it generally works.

You know, just an observation.

Comment as you will.

Oh yes, he is posting "way" in caps. I know where this generally leads to. ;)

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

That's what they say about Recon's mom, and I still have yet to see any truth in it.

In all seriousness though, there is definitely more than what you have listed OP. Sure, it is a factor, but join date isn't everything. There are a few, if not a few hundred, other factors that we will never know about.

Same with me. But, I've never been blacklisted/warned, which also goes into the system that decides titles.

Noone except the person who made the titles knows what decides a title.

I've been banned once a year ago, and warned about a month ago, and i'm a Legendary Member.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Based on what Achronos has said, most discipline doesn't last very long. a three-day doesn't last more than a month, for sure.

Achronos has spoken.

Anyway I always doubted the factor of length of membership determined it, along with bans, and with the other misc stuff.I think that the things that haven't been told to us are what can be easily manipulated by members, well some of it at least, but we'll never know and I'm fine with that.

Posted by Coffey4780:Uhh, does Xbox Live feedback go into this as well?

Don't know but I doubt it. The feedback can easily be manipulated and abused by spiteful players, it would be something faulty to check for as a factor.

Frank O'Connor is a 12-year veteran of the videogame magazine industry and has therefore never worked an honest day in his life.

I was gonna say, I don't think Achronos would be at Bungie if his formula was that simple.

We've all known Bungie wouldn't be at were they are now if they weren't resourceful, I'm sure Bungie thought long and hard about how the Title system would be set up, and not easily manipulated.

You've got to think crazy, of course, because you only get innovation by refining insanity. - Jason Jones

Well since everyone is throwing their two cents in I might as well. The date is part of it, the post count is part of it and I just about bet the bans are part of it as well. I think the frequency at which you have been "reported" to the mods for content has a big part as well. If you are posting content that needs reviewing, that means you are posting questionable material and that would probably dock you.

The activity of a member I would think has something to do with it as well. If you post daily and never get reported chances are you are going to achieve a higher status quickly. I am wondering though, if you help a member out that has a question can the mods and or achronos give you bonus points. I do not know if there is a points total for each level, but maybe they move you up a rank if they see you doing that often.

Years: A few days from 5 years even
Post frequency: Used to be daily, now casually.
Login Frequency: Usually daily, I try to anyway.
Bans: Never
Warnings: Never

Been around here since 4/24/2005. Only in the last maybe 6 months have I been really active though...sooo idk how they determine it. Maybe it is post count without getting reported for spam.

and probably a bunch more ways to increase it that the bungie people won't tell us b/c it is a secaret.
