Posted by ODST27:Maybe sometime Achronos (or someone else with high enough power) could go through some of the groups that have only 3-5 members and see if they're active or not. If they aren't, then he could delete them.

Could work, but what if the guy is smart and keeps the other accounts very active? Also couldn't Bungie view the IP address and see if the accounts are originating from that one computer?
One of the problems with checking to see if the accounts originated from the same IP address is that two or more people could be on the same connection with separate, legitimate accounts.

It wouldn't be fair if Bungie took action against them for having separate, legitimate accounts on the same IP address.

Bungie cannot monitor the alternate accounts of members. There's just too many to count and members have alternate emails.

Yeah good point, I never thought of that, drats.

I don't know if this is actually a factor, but what about email addresses?

Can you only have one account assigned to one bungie pro-...

Just remembered, you can form your own hotmail account.

When you think about it, the IP can't help too well. When you think about it, a friend or two could be creating their own profiles on your computer.

Some profiles can also be created by mistake.

With my first profile, I forgot what my email address I signed up to create my gamertag. I created my account, when I realized that I couldn't log in. I had to call Xbox Support to find my email address. This might be a common problem...

I do confess to creating an alias account though. I'm sorry and I vow not to use it from now on.

In many cases it is quite obvious that it is an alternate account though. The examples I linked (which JAF helpfully removed) showed blatant disregard and disrespect for the rule against alts and for the inactivity detection system.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

Well, if the group checks were totally random, then the person would have to keep the alt accounts posting all the the time, to insure that he's never caught. And every post would have to have actual content.......he couldn't just post spam because that'd be obvious. And frankly, I don't think people have enough devotion to keeping the group alive to do this.

I agree.

I know that I'm not the only one with an alias account, and in most cases, you don't need one. You shouldn't be afraid to post what you want.

I also think that the inactivity detection system is good, yet it is so hard to find good topics to start groups on!

PM me with the links.

Can a Mod/Admin please PM me? I have an extra account that needs to be deleted.

Thank you.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

I don't think Bungie has enough devotion to do completely random, human checks on inactive groups.

As far as I know, the only way your account is going to be deleted is if you leave it alone for approximately one year without signing in to it. It'll eventually be auto-deleted due to inactivity.

You can try and have Bungie delete it for you, but I doubt it's going to happen. Seriously.

They should have something like:

* Groups not active within 60 days.
* Groups with less than 5 members.
* Groups with less than 10 forum posts.
* Groups lose any members not active in the group in the past 30 days.

Just some thoughts?
