First and foremost, I apologize as I'm sure at some point in the forum history this topic has been discussed. Unfortunately, since my time on the Bungie forums, I am yet to have seen any threads regarding the "Guardians." So here 'goes.

While I'm sure the Guardians need no introduction or explanation to most, I'll give a quick run-down just in the rare case of an uninformed reader. The Guardians -- based on my knowledge -- only make an appearance in Halo:CE multiplayer games. Instead of the usual, "Big L was killed by Wheezy" (or what have you), occasionally a player will be killed by the “Guardians”, resulting in a "Pirate was killed by The Guardians." In my experience, this happens most frequently when two players seemingly kill each other at the same time.

So, the question is, or questions rather, does anyone know exactly why this happens? And secondly, why did Bungie choose to use the 'Guardians'? Is there any significance?

First, unless you're referring to Custom Edition for the PC, I wouldn't call Halo "Halo:CE." Bungie prefers "Halo," because they don't like the subtitle. ;)

Second, the Guardians are an error check, a prevention for a problem that was occuring when two players killed each other at the exact same time.

That's what I thought, but what is the error it's preventing?

probably who to give the kill to, cause if one person was killed a split second before, it would just say blah blah blah died.
