One thing i would love to see changed in user groups is the "base member roles" having more options.

I want nonmembers to be able to see my forums and maybe be able to post too.
I don't like the idea of making them HAVE to join in order to read and post.

(I understand joining makes it so I can ban them if they are bad, but viewing cant hurt..can it?)

What other stuff do you want in user groups?
Be reasonable.

Viewing should be an option, not a rule for groups. You should be able to decide whether you want your forums visible to non-members in the group settings. Default would be invisible.

We’re looking back laughing because they called us crazy, but we took that chance on that feeling, living for the moment, we were spinning in. Maybe we were a lot of things, but we weren't crazy.

I think it would be cool if the moderators in groups could have colored text like the moderators here.

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

The way it is supposed to work is that you give the "non-member" role the privs you want like forum posting and such. However, i think there is a bug that prevents that from working. It is kind of an extensive problem underlying things, but it is on the list to fix.

While on the topic of group changes, I was just messing with a group and I noticed how annoying this has been getting.

When on the forums of a group, there is one little button "Group Home" to get back to the group... Any chance we could have another on the right side as well? Perhaps a bigger more obvious one?

I always feel like every single time i try to back out of a group forum I get stuck, because the banner of the group name and "Back to Forum Index" button seem to be where I would generally click to instead go back to the group home page.

Maybe that's just me, but the interface always tricks me. >_> Every time. And no, I don't learn from my mistakes, sheesh. What do you think I am? <_<

edit: Also, It would be pretty nice to see when users were pending. Unless it's there, I must've missed it. Just something next to members, maybe.

Members (5) (1 pending)
Maybe something like that.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

It takes about 3 seconds to join a group. If they really want to post, why not join as well.

Some groups require you to be accepted. It can take anywhere from 1 minute to 5 weeks, for all they know. ;)

It'd be nice to be able to view it before joining, IF the group admins allow that.

I was actually in a group earlier and I really thought that I was stuck. Then I found the Group Home button. It does seem small and out of place.

Which only works if the group leaders are very active.

If they require somebody to be accepted to their group, wouldn't that mean that they don't want any random person in there?

Of course, it greatly reduces the number of possible spammers.

Or like Bungie.net, they just don't know if they want to join yet. You can view B.net without being signed in. Why not a group? If it's a public community group, people should be able to look. Maybe save some trouble of joining, finding out they don't like it, and leaving.

If people could post without having to join it would pave the way for all sorts of spam.

I agree. It would have to be an option or don't create it at all. However, people should be able to view the forums.
