Im really disappointed actually. I mean fixing the melee is good and all, But being the forger I am (and Forge Hub Guilder), I was hoping and expecting 'Immunity to Assassinations' option added to the current Game types options.

As Assassinations ruin many game types, because its an instant kill even if players are invincible. It's really the main problem that affects the serous forging community.

So you just wasted loads of your time bungie because it does`nt sound like the mellee is fixed at all, and from what I have read you dont understand what is wrong with it.

It should be the same as halo 2 but yet again you fail to deliver, I cant wait to see the mass of complaints about this new system.

Bungies ego is getting bigger.

heee people from bungie I am really glad that you took care of that meleebug ( to bad about those flying bodies, they always put a smile on my face), mabye you should think of a game where that bug always happens. so it will be just for fun seeing those bodies flying everywhere around you, for example that everyone has a hammer or a sword and if you get killed you immediatly start flying for hunderds of meters XD that would seem pretty funny to me XD

In my opnion, Isolation is a good map. I hated it before but I started to play it more and I love it. xD

It should be the same as Halo 2? You apparently either didn't read or didn't understand, because that system fails.

Can't wait to get done with work and class today!

I always cheer for updates, being that they always bring fixes and new elements. Although I did not have a problem with the old version's melee, this new version is also fine, it is funny now that both contestants that are engaged in melee can kill each other, and there are several cases (games) this morning that prove it. But other than that the feedback for the new melee is good, so +1 for Bungie. Thanks for the update!

It's great that melee is fixed but I was really hoping to see the custom game playlist with this as well, any idea when that will come? Please let it be soon.

  • 02.20.2008 6:18 AM PDT

Thank you, content monkeys. We all applaud the many long hours you & luke undoutedbly spent swilling jolt and freebasing slim jims to make this happen. (you do take it on your own to break out da notepad and hack out C code to fix frohman's follies, don't you?)

Sorry if this question has been posted before, but will where be any longer or more deatiled list describing what else was teaked/fixed in the AU (even the behind-the-scenes stuff that will escape direct notice)? Inquiring minds gotta know ....

Is everything in Halo 3 decided as melee is? Say if two people snipe each other in the head "at the same time" does the person with the most health win? [/quote

I would have to say yes it is the same with everything else except the sniper because if two people shoot at the same time in the head there is the time the bullet takes to get there so both will die. the thing I'm having trouble with is when someone runs in the room and we both have shotguns and are standing a foot from each other I shoot first and then they shoot I die they live and they also have full shields. That's completely ridiculous especially when they take like a full two seconds to shoot after me and I lose even though I shoot and melee. Yet there are times when someone kills me with one shotgun blast from 5 feet away.

Aww, so we no longer get to see our opponents' bodies fly across the map from a melee attack. What a bummer. Oh well, at least the melee system is fixed. :)

  • 02.20.2008 7:15 AM PDT

ok question did AU1 bring with it the new maps or no? I thought they would

  • 02.20.2008 7:22 AM PDT

Will this correct any of the custom game bugs? Or will this correct some of the forge bugs?

Ostrich I really wanna sig you, but need some fresh stuffs.
So make with the funneh.

Bitch don't tell me what to do.

Dang it the bodies flying across the level made for some funny videos and screenshots. I'm going to go make a thread in the Halo 3 forum about my outrage. Grrrrr! lol

After quite abit of playing on the new patch. I have noticed nothing positive from it. every game I have seen atleast 4 people die when they melee at each other. Headshots still only work half the time and if anything the lag for living on the other side of the world has just gotten worse.

Thanks for nothing Bungie.

Bungie,
Thanks for the auto update. Is there a chance that the defect with driving a vehicle while carrying a flag or bomb is going to be fixed? It's an option you can turn on or off, so I suspect it's supposed to work.

Thanks.

yo! ; )

Just downloaded the AU, I can see a big difference when getting a melee contest.
Thanks for the time you guys put in this.

YAY! Update!

  • 02.20.2008 7:48 AM PDT

so i'm guessing no new maps yet (sigh) I could care less about beat downs. Unless the difference they make will help me beat host and bring me to my 50, but change of scenery is what I love most

By the way on that host question... it's magic you know by magic.

Cool - I'm looking forward to this update.
I found the article very interesting - especially the 'nitty-gritty' parts.

It does seem to be a tricky issue - and I like the solution that Bungie have come up with.. but like others I'm a little confused as to why the 'flying-bodies' bug was fixed. I liked it. A lot. <sniff>
